36 Reward

Ah-jing felt curious, she wanted to ask her Miss. But she wasn't in the position to pry into her Miss' affairs. As the Master and Servant pair were pondering. They were ubruptly distracted by the noise of footsteps coming from the outside. The two girls' head instantly turned towards the door's direction and saw a man's old face, it was Steward Zhao.

Once he recieved the approval to enter Xingchen courtyard's recieving hall, the old man hurriedly kowtowed in front of the bemused Xingxing. "This servant pays respects for young miss".

Following that under the puzzled stares of Xiao Xingxing and Ah-jing, the old man happily conveyed the General's message for the Eldest Miss to go to the East Pavilion.

The estate's main reception was in the East Pavilion. Xingxing fell silent for quite some time before tilting her head to side. Doing this, she gave off a mix of innocent and curious expression which indicates that she was thinking of something. Her two eyes where staring at the old man before her as she blinked a few times.

Upon seeing this old man standing at her doorstep, she sensed something strange..

Looking at the suppresed delight on this man's old face, the suspicion in her rose.

Xiao Xingxing did not move nor speak. She just stood there for a while, contemplating about something. She wanted to ask about what's happening but in the end, decided not to.

Anyways, she will be able to know it herself when she reached there.

But upon arriving the East Pavilion's entrance, what welcomed her was a stack of treasures. Xiao Xingxing's eyes carries astonishment as she swept through the piles of chest and boxes that was placed on the floor. The lids were open wide. Inside those large chest were filled with silvers and some golds. While the medium sized boxes where filled with precious jade ornaments and beautiful jewelries. There were also tons of ready made dresses that are of high quality, and a large collection of exquisite brocades.

From the chest and boxes, her line of sight graciously turned to the direction of the two poised persons standing just next to the treasures, then to the lined servant at the back.

Finally her father, General Xiao opened his mouth to speak. With a smile on his face, he then slowly explained everything to his daughter. Once she was aware that this mountainous treasures on the floor were all rewarded to her, Xiao Xingxing grew feeling somewhat bewildered inside. Yet, the most surprising thing she heard was that, this was all because she had save the Emperor's son.

She has not yet recovered from her surprise when someone's voice rang in everyone's ears. The loud voice came from a Eunuch.

This Eunuch was surnamed Sun and he was in his 50's. He was courteous and possesed an amicable aura in his face. He then took a step forward and took out a golden scroll that was lying on a lavish tray.

Seeing this, everyone kneeled in succession as they all listened to the Imperial Decree that was being recited. Eunuch Sun first recited the Imperial Decree for the General.

"This loyal Subject, Xiao Jingxian accept the decree. Many thanks to Your Majesty." General Xiao bowed as his head touching the ground. Following, Eunuchs Sun's recited the next decree. His voice reververated once again. This time, he was facing General Xiao's eldest daughter, Xiao Xingxing.

"Xiao Xingxing, eldest daughter of Xiao Jingxian. Virtuous and kind, Self sacrificing and brave. Has a magnanimous bearing and

a benevolent conduct. The Sovereign Emperor of the Celestial Jade Continent hereby bestow you the noble title "Princess of the Fourth Rank."

"This subject daughter accepts the decree. Many thanks to His Majesty." with a composed expression on her beautiful face, Xingxing calmly replied. Eunuch Sun looked at well mannered lady before him. Pleased, he delightedly handed the decree into the girl's hands.
