16 THE LIFE OF PRAYER

Somebody says there is no Man of God who is not a man of prayer. Prayer is not praying anyhow. We have different types of prayers, rules of prayer and principle of prayers. One of my books, "Spiritual keys to total victory", explained in details on prayer.

No one get drunk in haste that is why you need to sit down, learn and be established. You must learn to pray. Great men in the bible learnt how to pray.

Jer. 33:3

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

There are many things that you don't know that God says He will show you, but He is asking you to call on Him. When you pray, you call on the Lord. You may not know tomorrow, but God knows tomorrow. He knows your tomorrow more than you know your past. Be rest assured, your life is secured in Him that is why we need to pray and commit everything to Him.

And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, because I bare him with sorrow.

And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

I Chronicle 4:9-10

Jabez was named by his mother as a son of sorrow. In the bible names closely predicts destiny. Everywhere he went he was a son of sorrow. But one day Jabez prayed and his situation turned around. It means things only continue the way they are because God is waiting for you to do something about it.

An attribute of Jabez prayer was the specificity. It is not how long you pray but how specific. Bartholomew met Jesus in Luke 19. He heard that He is a healer but he didn't know how to make a request. "Have mercy on me", He cried. Jesus sent for him and asked him, "What do I do for you" It was then it dawned on him that his specific prayer should have been 'that I may see'.

Many are praying useless, non-specific prayers. What do you want God to do for you? Oh God give me a husband; which kind of a man? What do you want God to do for you? Be specific.

God, give me a car. What type of car? Nothing becomes dynamic until it becomes specific. I have seen people coming to me who believe God for a child. They came and I asked them, what do you want- a boy or girl? The response was anything. I asked them what is the name you want for your child, they replied that they had not thought about it. They just live their lives in optimism without settling down to believe. I always tell them to go back and settle what they want. Buy some baby clothes, have a name in mind, then come and we will pray together.

What do you want God to do for you? It is not just saying anything. Be specific.

Mark 11:24

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

If you are down to nothing, God is up to something because God cannot fill a vessel that is full but the one that is empty. Your emptiness is a sign that you are ready for a miracle. May God give you continuous miracle (Amen).
