9 STUDY TO BE APPROVED

II Timothy 2:15

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

The above scripture means you will become ashamed when you don't study. May you not know shame in Jesus name. It also means you will walk in honour when you study. To divide the word of truth means right applicability of the word to your life. What is the essence of learning if you can't apply what is learnt?

Though wisdom comes from knowledge, if you don't have wisdom, you have no wealth. Many have become great because they used the wisdom that was available to them.

Wisdom is the application of knowledge and that is the whole essence of studying. God is particular about your walking in wisdom by learning to study. God wants you to be studious, not to be lazy. The church is more than a revival centre where people gather to clap; it is a study centre where you study to be made. May you be made and complete in Him in all things. What is the essence of Christianity if you can't apply the principles to solve problems? That is why Christianity is not religion; it is a way of life.

A book is the collection of thoughts and the Bible is the thought of God. If you desire to know how wise God is, study your Bible because the level of a man's wisdom can be known in his word. So, the Bible is God's wisdom in collection.

The secret of great people are in their stories so read the stories of great men to understand the power behind their glory. It has been observed that Africans lack reading culture. Before Lord Luggard left Nigeria, he had some observations about Africans; that: Africans love power and title but they don't like responsibilities. Secondly, they lack the culture of reading. He said if you want to hide anything from a Black man, write it in a book.

An African buys an equipment but refuses to even read the manual to assemble it; he gets a drug from the chemist and uses it without reading the leaflet, relying on the prescription of a friend. An average African does not want to study to acquire knowledge.

I think the government should mandate all political aspirants to study the history of Nigeria, to learn how our past leaders failed or succeeded so they can be better equipped before they are sworn in for the present post. A reader will be a leader and if there is no story, there is no glory.

Only a mediocre will endure someone who is not learning, so take time to study. It is the same 24hrs you have that a white man has.

No mango fruit falls from the sky without it been planted at first, it is my prayer you will pay the price; your life will not be ordinary. You will never be known better than you know. What are you doing with your life? How are you investing in knowledge? A good leader is a good reader, so read and study the word of God so you will know what to say to the devil in crisis. Study ahead so when trouble comes, you will be fully equipped with the Sword of the Spirit. With adequate knowledge, the battle that swallows others will not swallow you up.
