341 The Lord’s Persistence

Bella saw Charles leaving, she wiped away her tears and looked up at Edwin, asked, "Dad, don't be angry, okay?" Then she looked at Steven who still dared not speak and said, "Don't blame the brother, okay?"

Edwin snorted. "I blame him? Of course I should blame him." He looked at Steven, as if wishing the iron could turn into steel at once. "You, really have no brain, waste such a good chance."

Steven understood what he meant in his words. This time Edwin didn't die, and everything was still in his plan. Then his identity could only be "brother".

If Edwin died, Bella and Charles got divorced, he could grasp the opportunity to expose his true identity according to the situation.

This was an acquiescence of Edwin to Steven, so that he could pursue Bella without any psychological burden. If there were no such acquiescence, even if Steven couldn’t stand it, he finally told the truth, he would still live with the guilty for Edwin.

But now, Edwin was alive, and Bella and Charles were not divorced, which meant that he must remain the "brother" identity in the past two years.

And how many things would happen in two years?

Bella was already pregnant, and if they were not divorced, Charles would find the child's existence sooner or later. As a result, Steven had no chance at all.

He clearly loved Bella, but he gave up. Because he really loved her, he loved her so much that he couldn't refuse any request for her. And also, he really loved Edwin.

Although he knew that he was using himself as a pawn, he knew that he had the same purpose as his, that was, to protect Bella. Therefore, he was willing to be his pawn.

He looked at Edwin and smiled. He was somehow relieved and wanted to cry. He said, "Nothing is more important than father's life. Bell, and us have just reunited. Bell and me, we all need you, father."

At the moment of hearing this, Edwin was a little shocked.

From the very beginning, he and Steven had a very clear relationship of use and substitutes. The only point of agreement was that Steven and Bella got married after they found Bella in the future.

In the beginning, Edwin agreed, but the appearance of Charles made Edwin change his mind.

He thought that Steven hated him, but he did not expect that he would say such kind of words.

Steven was still putting his life in the first place.

"Yeah, Dad, brother and I both need you." Bella shook his arm and acted like a child to him.

Steven said again, "But we can't easily forgive Charles."

Bella looked at Edwin and said. "As long as dad is not angry, anything is okay."

Edwin said, "Anything is okay? Won’t you worry about him?"

Bella’s face turned red, she pouted and said, "I won't."

If it was not that she was afraid of her father's anger, she wouldn’t have thought about Charles's kindness.

Edwin said, "If that's the case, let's eat and let him wait outside."

"Nice." Bella quickly got up and pushed Edwin's wheelchair back to the dining room, and then she was busy preparing the table with Sam.

During the whole meal later, Bella didn’t say that she wanted to go to see what happened to Charles. At first, Edwin thought she was too shy to do that. But after he observed that, he found that she was not shy, but really didn't care.

After dinner, Edwin glanced at Sam inadvertently. "Have a look at Charles, if he is still there or not?"

Bella continued, "There is no need, he must have gone back."

Charles was such a proud person, how he could stand such a cold encounter. He must have already left.

However, after a while, Sam returned to say that Charles was still standing at the door and did not leave.

Bella was a little surprised, "He didn't leave, why didn't he leave?"

They had eaten for more than an hour. Had Charles been standing for more than an hour?

He, why did he do this? If it were just to let dad believe that they really wanted to be together, then he must have done too realistically and too much.

Edwin looked at Bella who was staring blankly and smiled lightly. "Are you worried about him?"

Bella came back to herself, and denied it. "How could it be." But she remembered that she still had to let Edwin believe that she loved Charles, and she said, "Dad, let me have a look."

As her words finished, she had run out.

She would not admit that she was injured because of him, she was afraid that he couldn’t stand it.

Edwin looked at her disappearing back and turned to look at Steven’s face and asked, “Do you regret? You only have this opportunity.”

Steven shook his head. "As long as it is Bell’s choice, I will never regret it. As long as she regrets it one day, I will stand out."

"I always think that no one in this world loves Bell more than me, but now I know that you are." Edwin said, "I will withdraw my old words. As long as you want, starting from today, you are Steven."

"If I am Steven, who is Edwin?" Steven smiled bitterly. "This world may not need the existence of Edwin, but in Bell’s world, there is an Edwin. I don't want to see her cry again."

He covered his chest and his tears were in his eyes. "Seeing her crying hurts here. I want to be like her brother, in the future, every day, I will work hard for her smile. If one day I see her cry again because of Charles, I will never let her go."

Edwin adjusted the wheelchair, and Steven got up and pushed him back to the room.

When they arrived at the door of the bedroom, Edwin suddenly sighed. "I'm sorry, Steven."

I am sorry, Steven. I should not have doubted that your love for Bell would be more than me. I should not have doubted that true love really existed. I should not have erased your rights and opportunities to pursue Bell.

There were many, many reasons for sorry, but in the end, there were only three words "I'm sorry."

Steven shook his head. "Brother... Father loves Bell, as I love her. We all just love her in a way which we think the best. We are both not wrong."

Was it really that nobody was wrong, did he really never blame him?

Of course he blamed, otherwise how could he hangover and cry at Nick’s home? But after that he forgave him.

When Bella ran to the doorway, she saw that Charles was still standing at the door. Under the light, his pale face because of his injuries looked more and more bloodless.

"Charles, you can go back first." Bella said, "Tomorrow we set time later to see my mother."

Just as her voice fell, Charles’s body fell directly behind her.

"Charles, Charles...” Bella immediately went over to hold him, unfortunately her body was attached to fall down with him. Thanks to the servant who came over to help in time, so that she and Charles didn’t fall on the ground.

"Help, help me to hold him in first." Bella quickly asked the servant to send Charles back to her room. And she found the doctor who had cured her before to see Charles.
