“If you were sick, we can cure it together.” Bella said, “If you need to drink my blood to cure your illness, you can do as much as you want.” Her voice then got low. “As long as I am alive, it is okay for me.”

Charles smiled. “Then what if I am not a human, but a monster?”

Bella’s eyes widened, “You are not a vampire or a werewolf, are you?”

Charles laughed, and sighed silently, what kind of movies she had watched!

Bella saw him laughing, and asked nervously, “Are you?”

Charles looked at her and asked seriously, “What if I am.”

“What if you are...”

Although she kept guessing his identity, like a vampire or something else, she didn't really think about what if Charles was really a vampire or something else other than human.

She answered seriously, “I don't know.” And cautiously asked, “Are you a vampire or a werewolf? Or an elf?”

“You can guess.” Charles felt her nervous look very funny.

She was not afraid that he was not a human being!?

Bella poked her fingers, “I don’t know how to guess out.”

“Well, don't worry. If you want to know, I will tell you at the appropriate time.” Charles petted her head. “Lie down well, I will fetch some medicine.”

Charles then took his coat.

Bella saw him leaving and closing the door.

As soon as Charles left, she immediately started to reflect on the bed.

What did Charles’s last sentence mean? If I wanted to know, he would tell... He was really not a human.

Bella held the quilt and kept rolling on the bed if he was not a human, what was he? Was there any species similar to human beings in this world? She sat up suddenly, her head was totally in a mess.

Charles had such a strong need on that aspect, maybe it was because he was an alien?

An alien!

Generally, an alien looked not so beautifully, like that in E.T.

Bella sadly fell on the bed. It was hard to say, honestly, she preferred a vampire more than an alien because of the Twilight Saga.

When Charles came in, he saw that Bella was rolling on the bed, her small face looked quite struggling.

When Bella heard the sound of the door, she quickly stopped rolling and sat up.

“Open your mouth.” Charles handed the medicine to her mouth.

Bella opened her mouth, intentionally or not, Charles's fingertips slipping past her tongue, which felt like a slight electric current, made her shy.

Seeing her face got red, Charles took back his hand and handed the cup to her. “Drink some water.”

Bella then swallowed the pill with water.

“I will change clothes, then we will go to the dining room together,” Charles said.

“Wait.” Seeing he was about to leave, Bella quickly pulled him and looked at him. “Can you tell me what you are indeed? Are you an alien? How can you look like a human being?”

“An alien?” Charles was surprised at her brain hole and replied disdainfully. “Do I look like such kind of low creature?”

Bella relieved, and said confusedly, “Human has already stood at the top of the food chain, but you said that you are not human.”

Charles saw her stick to the truth and sighed, right now was not a good time for her to know the truth, but he was not willing to cheat her. “We should start from the history of human evolution. Not all human beings were evolved from apes, some of them were evolved from fish.”

What?

Even Bella didn’t study biology, she knew that human beings were evolved from apes.

Charles saw her unbelief and touched her head softly. “I will tell you everything when it’s appropriate, but not now.”

Before Bella totally understood his words, she asked dumbly, “Does Katherine know that you are not a human?” She felt it was not appropriate to say like this and quickly corrected it. “I mean, you are different from us?”

Charles shook his head. “She doesn't know, except you, I haven't told any terrestrial humans.”

What the hell that he used “terrestrial humans”.

Bella slowly understood and reacted. “What do you mean, there are marine humans? There are humans under the sea?”

“You are really studious.” Charles smiled. “These are the things that scientists should study. You don't need to know. You just have to wait for me to handle all the things well, and be my wife.”

“Fine.” Bella did not really understand what he meant, and finally confirmed it again. “In fact, you are also human, but our ancestors are different. Am I right?”

“Yeah, that’s what I meant.” Charles nodded. This understanding was simpler.

Bella was relieved, no matter what he evolved, from apes or fish, as long as he had evolved well, that would be okay.

Seeing this, Charles relaxed and smiled. “Get up and wash your face, I will change clothes.”

They didn’t see Katherine during breakfast, and they happily enjoyed the breakfast.

The car was ready at the door, Bella went downstairs. But Charles went back to his room to change a tie just because Bella said, “I have seen you wear this tie three times.”

When Bella arrived at the door, Katherine just walked in. Her eyes seemed to murder Bella. When she passed by Bella, she lowered her head and said in a low voice. “Bella, don’t be happy too early. I will take back everything that belongs to me.”

Bella’s footstep paused and she did not speak anything, going straight to the car.

However, as she just took two steps further, Katherine ’s low voice became gentle and delighted. “Dear Charles.”

Bella felt speechless that Katherine was really good at acting, she must have won a lot of gold awards if she were an actress.

Bella quickly got into the car and waited for Charles. Because of bored, she used her mobile phone to search for “Fish evolve into humans”.

She was surprised by the result.

When Darwin proposed the theory of evolution, there was another scientist named Davenport who proposed “the Evolution Theory of Sea Creature Gene”. Unlike Darwin, he believed that humans were evolved from fish.

Bella immediately got excited, however, when she went to search for Sea Creature Gene and Davenport, there was no more information on the Internet. She only found a biological research laboratory in Vancouver Island called the Devenport Research Institute, and it seemed that they had a certificate issued by the Queen.

Devenport Research Institute? Wasn’t this named after the scientist?
