Chapter 230 Her Brother’s Thoughts

Bella stared at Charles. She was ready to say something but she closed her mouth. The way Charles treated Katherine worried her. In the past, he had loved her so much but now he was treating her like trash. Was this also going to happen to Bella in the future?

“Let’s go,” said Charles.

Without letting go of her arm, he led her down the corridor to her room. They stopped when they reached her door. It seemed that Charles did not want to go away.

Slowly she pulled her hand away.

“Good night,” she said to him.

“Good night,” said Charles. 

She got into the room and closed the door behind. Charles did not go back to his room bust leaned against the wall. He put his hands in his pockets and smiled at the thought of what had happened this night.

Did it mean Bella wanted others to see how he loved her? Or else, why would she propose to act in this way in front of Edwin Beck?

He was lost in his thoughts when the door opened again. Bella was going to fetch some water. She was not expecting to find him still standing there. She looked at him in a bewildered manner as if she had found a voyeur outside her bedroom window. Bella wanted to smile at him seeing that his guilty look made him look somehow cute.

Wait, cute?

Bella came to her senses quickly and despised herself for the thought that had just crossed her mind.

How could Charles be cute? He was a devil!

Sure enough, in the next moment, the devil came next to Bella and began whispering in her ear. 

“It seems that you miss me desperately. I also miss you much.”

“No. I was going to get some…”

Before he had the chance to finish, his lips were over Bella’s. He grabbed her wrists and pushed her against the wall. She tried to say something but his tongue pressing hard against hers did not permit her to do that. 

“Do you like my kiss?” he asked when it was over.

“I did,” she admitted. She did not dare to irritate him.

Charles pinched her chin and touched her wet lips with his fingers. A faint smile came on his face. 

“Good girl.”

Bella blushed out of shame and returned to her room quickly. Charles burst into uncontrollable laughter once the door was shut. She was so wet she had completely forgotten the glass of water!

“We ought to do this more often!” he muttered to himself.

After leaving the Williams Mansion Edwin drove to the mountaintop. It was almost sunset and the air was getting colder. It came as a surprise when he found his brother still sitting in the garden.

“Why are you sitting here? It gets cold at night.”

“Everyone has his own destiny. I do not have much time left but I will not sacrifice the pleasure of watching the stars. It is one of the few good things left in my life.” The man raised his head and looked at the boundless sky. “Bell liked to observe stars when she was a child. She even said that she would like to study them when she grows up. We even went together to the polar region to watch stars. ”

“Have you seen them then?” Edwin took a chair and sat next to the man.

“It was a wonderful spectacle. We also witnessed the meteoric shower during which Bella made many wishes. However, none of them came true. How ridiculous it was to make wishes while watching a meteoric shower,” he said with a self-mockery tone.

“What wishes did Bella make?”

The man asked for a blanket and waited for Quentin to bring it before giving a reply.

“She wished that our family could always live together happily,” he said in a sad tone. “She wished that all orphans find a home and that one day I become a brilliant doctor.”

“You are a brilliant doctor,” said Edwin.

“A brilliant doctor? You got to be kidding me. I am unable to cure myself!”

“It’s not your fault. They are responsible for your condition.”

Edwin’s eyes suddenly darkened.

“The time has come. We shall get our revenge soon!”

“Tell me what do you know.”

“Nathan Spencer is coming. Should we take any action?”

“Are there any people from other laboratories?”

“From what I know there will be several biologists from other countries,” replied Edwin. “I noticed people from the former Sea Creature Gene Research Institute in Nathan’s group. Nathan must be the one who killed your parents. I’m also sure he was the one who took you and Bell to that research center.”

“I will not let go of him whether or not he has done those things to our parents. He has to die mainly because of what he has done to Bell.”

“We ought to strike soon,” said Edwin.

“Did Charles happen to find out the news about Katherine’s blood?”

“Even if he did, he hasn’t done anything about it. This kind of surprises me.”

“Charles may also find out some unusual things about Nathan Spencer and I’m curious to see how he will react when that time arrives.” He paused for a while and then continued. 

“You can proceed with the kidnapping of Katherine.”

“How about we cooperate with Charles on this thing.”

“This is not the right time. At this point, we do not want Charles to find out who Nathan really is and what he is capable of doing. We want Nathan to keep on trusting Charles.”
