Chapter 229 A So-Called Romantic Relationship

Charles gestured to Roy. After a while, some men in white showed up at the door.

Bella was surprised to see Charles overreact in such a way. Trying to ignore the presence of the guards, Edwin stood up and took the seat opposite Bella. This way he would be able to look at her while talking.

Charles let go of Bella and held her hand instead. He looked at Edwin and gestured him to begin. Bella also looked at him with anticipation.

“The blood of the Beck family is different from that of other families. Our blood is special and rare, that’s why it’s more precious than Rh-negative blood. There are experts all over the world who specially study this blood. Throughout the ages, many scientists have sought samples of our blood. In later years, we became scientists and started doing research on our own DNA. We did this to avoid handing our blood to others and to protect ourselves.”

“To our surprise, we achieved great success in biological research and gain a prominent position in the field. When we started doing serious business, my father handed the laboratory to a good friend of his. This good friend one day happened to find out that my father’s blood had some unusual properties which were very useful in some areas.”

“They began extracting his blood claiming that it was for the good of himself and his entire family. At some stage, he discovered they were doing it for purely commercial reasons. He tried to run away but these people came for our blood. It was too late for our parents to stop them.”

“Before we had the chance to get away they showed up at our house. We were planning to get in a car and run away when suddenly, you went missing. We went after you but several vehicles driven by our enemies began to purchase us. Our car crashed into another vehicle and there was a loud explosion.”

“Nobody expected that I would have survived such a crash. On that day, I swore that I would devote my entire life to find you. Finally, this day has come.”

“If what you’re saying is true, Bella Brook is not my real mother,” said Bella.

“Yes. That’s the reason why I have been looking for you for years. I didn’t know where you were.”

“Who is the friend of our father who destroyed our family?”

“I am still investigating that. I haven’t found the murderer yet.”

“We need to find out his identity and punish him for his crimes.”

“Bell, you do not need to get involved in this thing. I want you to be safe. Let me do the investigating. Now let’s go back to the album.”

Bella knew very well that he had changed the subject on purpose but she didn’t say anything and turned the page on the album. There were so many things she could learn about her past and her family.

After a while, they finished the album. They chatted for a while until Edwin decided it was time to leave. 

The moment Edwin left Bella pushed Charles’s hand away from her hip.

Charles put his hand again on the same spot and narrowed his eyes.

“It seems that you plan to burn the bridge after crossing it.”

“We do not need to pretend we love each other now that he’s gone.”

“Yes, we do,” said Charles and c****d his eyebrows. “Everyone here needs to know that we love each other.”

“All people here know who you truly love.”

“Okay. Tell me, who do I love?”

“Katherine, of course. Even Nick knows that.”

“So now you’re jealous of Katherine?”

“No need to be jealous,” said Bella shook her head. “Especially now that I’m reunited with my long lost brother.”

“Does that mean you don’t need me any longer?”

Bella refused to reply and headed to her room. Charles grabbed her arm and pulled her back.

“What the f…”

Before she had finished speaking, Charles grabbed her wrists and pressed her hard against the wall. He sucked on her lips and stuck his tongue violently in her mouth.

“You cruel woman,” he whispered from between his teeth.

“Honey…”

They both turned around upon hearing Katherine’s voice. This gave Bella the chance to push Charles away from her. But Charles did not want to let go. He kept putting his paws around her waist.

“Let go of me you ape!”

Bella looked at Katherine who was in the doorway and noticed her wet eyes. Suddenly a feeling of melancholy came into her heart. Katherine’s happiness and sadness seemed to be related to Charles.

At that moment, Bella felt sympathy for Katherine. Because she herself had experienced the same situation. When she saw Charles kissing Katherine she had felt awful. Now the roles were being played in reverse.

Charles let go of Bella when she stopped struggling.

“What’s up?” he asked Katherine.

Katherine did her best to hold her tears. She wanted to say something about her father but was too sad to finish the sentence. She turned around and ran away.

Katherine hated Bella so much. She had taken her Charles away. She could not wait anymore. She wanted her to die right away.
