Chapter 219 Bella’s Identity
Bella didn’t appreciate Charles’s slimy attempt to manipulate her by using her mother’s condition. His toxic presence had managed to turn a hospital visit into a torment. There was no reason to stay there any longer. He had spoiled everything.
She rushed out of the hospital without even saying goodbye to Dora. Not that it mattered much now that she had Carl to pamper her. They would probably find it annoying if Bella interrupted them too often.
Katherine was standing in front of her window when they returned to the mansion. She watched Charles get out of the car before he went to the other side to open the door for Bella. A sudden grimace of deep hatred distorted her entire face. Charles had never treated her in such a manner during the last five years. How could such a woman of lowly origin be worthy of such courtesy?
She moved away from the window and grabbed her cell phone. Her father had promised her that Bella would die, yet this pathetic woman was still alive and well.
“Dad,” she reminded him. “I want Bella to die a slow and horrible death and I want her dead body to be thrown on the street and raped by homeless trash. This will teach her a lesson!”
“Your wish will come true. We just need to find the right moment.”
“I think Charles is not in love with me any longer.”
“Let me talk to him. I will remind him that he can’t back up from his word. He will regret his decision if he does so.”
“Please don’t hurt him too much. Just enough for him to understand his proper position.”
“I would never do anything that would put your marriage at risk. I just want to make sure that Charles is aware of his priorities.”
Katherine felt much better after she hung up. Her dad seemed to be in control of things.
After they had returned to the mansion, Bella went straight to her room where she put the credit card on her desk and began wondering whether Charles deserved another chance or not. At the same time, Ziv was showing Charles an interesting discovery he had made on the internet. A photo of Edwin Beck on a social media website with the following article:
THE PRODIGAL SON AND THE SEARCH FOR HIS MISSING SISTER
Edwin Beck, son of Leo Beck, former president of Vancouver Island Commerce is expected to bring the family fortune back on track. However, he is not the only heir to the Beck legacy. Edwin is currently searching for his sister Bella who went missing after the fatal accident that claimed the lives of his parents. She was once believed to be dead but…
Charles was shocked by the revelation. He never believed that the fatal accident that killed most of the members of the Beck family would have two survivors!
“Did you bring the police files?” he asked Ziv.
“Yes, my Lord,” said Ziv and put a large file on the table. Charles opened it and took out a stash of papers. He started to read the one on top.
It was about the past of Bess who used to work as a housemaid in the Beck family. At that time, she was dating Len and they were making plans to set up a family together. He didn’t take it well when Bess brought Bella home after the accident. He could never shrug off the feeling that Bella was a love child from her illicit affair with Leo.
“This is complete nonsense of course,” commented Ziv. “A simple blood test could have proven that Bella had no relation with Bess.”
“Then how come Len got married to Laura?”
“Probably because Bess never wanted anyone to find out about Bella’s real identity,” said Charles.
The other documents were mostly reports on the accident done by the police or the insurance company. There was also the autopsy report accompanied by several blood curling morgue photos. Charles put them away and gave the file back to Ziv. He was very satisfied with the results of the search.
“Now you need to check whether Edwin visited the Pole fifteen years ago,” he said.
“My Lord. Do you still believe that the person who saved you at that time was our Lady?”
“There is no need to jump to conclusions,” said Charles in a calm voice. “Let’s wait until we see the results of your investigation.”
“Do we need to inform the Lady about this?”
“No need to do that. Someone else is going to take care of that.”
“Do you mean Edwin?”
“The long lost siblings are bound to get together eventually,” said Charles. “I got to welcome Edwin as my own brother whether I like him or not.”
At the same time, Katherine received a call from her father, Earl Spencer. He had some very important news for her.
She rushed out of the hospital without even saying goodbye to Dora. Not that it mattered much now that she had Carl to pamper her. They would probably find it annoying if Bella interrupted them too often.
