Chapter 202 Interrogating Lynn Sanders
Lynn’s effort to stand up was rather pathetic. Having been tied up for too long, there was not much strength in her stiff fingers. The only thing she could do was crawl on the ground towards Bella.
“I was cheated into this thing by a woman named Katherine. She told me that if I did what she said, I could make five million dollars.”
She was exhausted and stopped crawling. Her long hair fell to the ground. Words like embarrassment and shame were not enough to describe her current situation.
Bella clenched her fists in anger. “Lynn Sanders, are you sure? Do you know anything else about this Katherine? Can you describe what she looks like?”
Bella was afraid that Charles would stop the interrogation for the sake of protecting Katherine’s reputation but fortunately, that didn’t happen.
“Please give me some water.”
Lynn stretched her hand out slowly, revealing the bruises she had acquired during the last twenty-four hours. Bella subconsciously turned to Charles as if she was asking for his permission.
Charles then gestured to the bodyguard who brought a bottle of water and poured it over Lynn’s head. It flowed through her filthy hair and formed a puddle on the floor below. This didn’t stop Lynn from lapping on it, in the same way, a thirsty dog would lap on a puddle of filthy rainwater.
“You will be given a drink only after you have confessed everything we need to know.”
“I hope you’re not out to frame Katherine,” said Bella. “This will only put you in a more difficult position.”
“I know very well who I’m talking about and what she looks like. A fashion magazine featured a full-color spreadsheet of her in their Christmas issue. I have also seen her and her father on TV when they participated in the fundraisers for Africa. I know what she looks like.”
“Why would she want to kidnap me?”
Lynn shook her head. “I don’t know. When she came to meet me, she told me that she hated you as much as I do. She asked me to trick you into showing up at the hospital. After you fainted, a person disguised as a doctor gave me a bank card with five million dollars. I withdrew five hundred thousand and the rest is still in the bankcard. You can check by yourself if you do not believe me. The bank card is still in my bag.”
Charles waited for Lynn to finish before gesturing to the bodyguard. Then the bodyguard stepped with his thick black boots on Lynn’s hand on the ground. Her blood-curdling screams echoed against the white walls and made Bella put her hands in front of her ears.
“Before spurning out these accusations you should have taken in account the Lord’s friendship with Earl Spencer, Katherine’s father. You had better be sure that she is really the one you met or else, you will suffer beyond belief.”
“Enough!” Bella suddenly stood up and looked at Charles. She spoke softly but her voice was firm. “I have already heard what she had to say. It’s too late for her to change her story. ”
She could understand why Charles had questioned her that way. Because he wanted to make Lynn change her confession when he heard that Katherine might be implicated in the kidnapping.
This made Bella wonder what he would do if Katherine really was behind the plot. She knew that Charles would avoid putting the blame on Katherine. This made her presence here rather pointless. There was no point in finding the culprit if Charles was not willing to do anything about it.
Bella decided it was time to get out of there. She turned around and walked out of the room. She could hear Lynn screaming for help and mercy but Bella could do nothing. The only person that could do something for this woman was Charles.
She ran into the elevator and looked down the corridor before pressing the button to close the door. Charles had not followed her. He was probably going to help Katherine clean up the mess she had started.
Charles continued with Lynn’s interrogating after Bella left. He stood up and looked down at her. It seemed that he was God and she was a nobody. If he wished, he could crush her under his heel like a cockroach.
“What did Katherine tell you? I want to know everything that came out of her mouth. Word by word.”
Lynn shook her head and looked at Charles in dismay. “It wasn’t her. The woman looked like her but it was someone else.”
Lynn had to change her story. The last thing she wanted was to make enemies with Charles and Earl Spencer.
“Answer my question!” said Charles and kicked her hard on the ribs. She groaned aloud and fell aside.
Charles did not care about her reply and kept asking her questions. “What did she tell you? Answer me! Talk you bitch or else I’m going to cut off your fingers one by one.”
“I don’t know what to say!” said Lynn. “All I know it wasn’t Katherine.”
Charles made a gesture to the guard who grabbed Lynn’s wrist and held it to the ground. With his free hand, he pulled out the commando knife from his belt and severed Lynn’s pinkie with one quick move.
The spectacle of the blood spurting from the spot where her finger used to be was simply too much for Lynn. She passed out and no matter how hard the guard kicked her on the ribs, he could not bring her back to her senses.
