Chapter 180 Katherine Makes a Discovery

The child was almost like a mini version of Charles. Not for one second did Katherine believe it was a relative of Charles, this was just a poor excuse that Bella had come up with. It was more plausible that this kid was the son of Charles and Bella. That was why Roy was acting in such an overprotective way.

The presence of Bella and Charles’s child also explained why Bella still lived in the Mansion and got treated like a queen.

Katherine was not smart enough to see that it was impossible for Bella and Charles to have a child of that age. Even if someone was there to point out this obvious paradox, she would have refused to see. Katherine was not aware that her paranoia and hatred distorted her view of reality.

Now that she had identified the source of the problem, she would have to come up with a course of action. Under the current circumstances, there was no future for Katherine in the Mansion. The only way to fix this was to eradicate the source of her misery.

Bella would have to die. Or else, the five years she had waited to get married to Charles, would have been in vain.

When she was alone in her room, she found a phone and dialed her father’s number. The voice that came through the other end of the line seemed tired and frustrated.

“My dear girl, I’m glad you called. I need to ask a favor.”

“What is it?”

“You need to get a sample of Bella’s blood. I can’t do it myself. I’m under suspicion that I work for the Davenport Institute and I got to be careful if I don’t want my cover being blown off.”

“How am I supposed to get a sample of Bella’s blood? It’s impossible to carry out such a task in the Williams Mansion.”

“I’m sure my girl will find a way to get the job done,” said the man and hung up.

Katherine pondered on his words for a while before starting to get dressed. To obtain a sample of Bella’s blood, she would need to find an able assistant.

They had just finished the rehearsal to one of the songs when Lynn stepped down from the stage. A member of the crew gave her an encouraging pat on the shoulder while another one handed her a bottle of mineral water. Katherine was standing at a distance of ten meters observing every move she made. Lynn was wearing a tight outfit and funny makeup that made her face look like a tiger. She could not help but laugh at such a ridiculous spectacle.

Katherine’s thin lips curved upwards. Lynn Sanders was exactly the type of person she was looking for.

After the scandal with the sex photos, it was impossible for Lynn to find a decent gig as an actress. The only way for her to sustain herself was taking roles in stage plays for kids.

Katherine was about to call out Lynn’s name when a man in a suit suddenly appeared from behind the stage and pulled Lynn aside. The two of them began arguing in a heating manner. The problem seemed to be about the sum Lynn was going to receive for her work. The stage manager wanted to deduct certain expenses such as makeup and food from her payment, and Lynn wasn’t willing to accept such a condition.

“You promised to pay me five hundred dollars!” Lynn was shouting so clearly everyone could hear her words.

“We have not yet received funding from the municipality,” explained the man. “Therefore I must deduct certain expenses from your payment. I got to do the same with all actors or else I will be losing money for putting up this show.”

“You know what?” shouted Lynn into his face. “Screw your show!”

She turned her head right away when she heard the applause. Someone had been watching the conversation she had with the stage manager.

“Who the f**k are you?” asked Lynn. She didn’t want the woman to sense her envy, so she tried to avoid staring at the expensive shoes and clothes. Instead, she pretended to play it tough.

“I’m here to propose a partnership,” said Katherine.

“I ain’t interested in any form of partnership,” said Lynn.

“I can give you money. Lots of it. In exchange for your services.”

“I’ve got money. Do you know who I am?”

“If you’ve got money then why are you arguing over five hundred dollars in a stupid animal outfit?”

Katherine’s comment had really hit the mark. At this stage in her life, Lynn was desperate for some cash. Len Sanders had gone bankrupt and put in prison. All his property was confiscated and his home foreclosed. Without anyone knowing it, Len Sanders had put the house as collateral against any bad loans. Lynn had to move out with her mother and they were now renting a cheapskate apartment in a working-class area. Her present life was a living hell and there was no way out of the gutter.

After the scandal with the photos, a man had approached her and offered to help her on the condition to bring Bella to him. Lynn was willing to do whatever he asked but he suddenly disappeared from her life. She was hoping for him to show up again but that never happened. Now she was eager to strike a similar deal. It didn’t matter what they were going to ask from her.

“How much money are we talking about and what do you want me to do?”

“Does the name Bella Williams ring a bell?”

“I hate her so much, I would do the job for free!” The fire of revenge flashed deep in Lynn’s eyes.

“Awesome!” said Katherine.

Katherine was driving back to William' s Mansion when she saw Roy in the company of the stupid child. It made her sad to see with how much respect Roy was treating the son of Bella and Charles. Despite her status, nobody in the Mansion treated her in such a manner.

If she was going to get rid of Bella, what was she going to do with the child? She would have to find a way to get rid of the boy. She didn’t want any more hurdles between herself and Charles.

She put her foot on the brake and slowed down. The car pulled aside and the window came down. Her evil intentions were carefully concealed behind the expensive sunglasses she wore.

She smiled at them in her usual irresistible manner. Her perfect, white, teeth were gleaming under the sunlight.

“Hi there,” she said to the butler and the boy. “Want a ride back home?”
