Chapter 179 A Gift for Bella

Katherine stared at the child with contempt. Without a doubt, Bella had taught him to be so insolent. Now it was up to her to put him back to his proper position.

“Kiddo, if you keep on talking like that you will be kicked out of this place in no time. The only positive thing that you can count on is that you won’t be alone. She will also get kicked out of here when the Lord comes back.”

The silly kid stared at her with blank eyes. She sneered at him and kept on talking.

“It was pretty dumb of you to believe her words. She never was the Lady of the house and never will be.”

After hearing these words, Charles finally understood why Bella had never regarded herself as the host and why she always said that she would leave this place one day. It was because that Katherine always threatened Bella every time he turned his back. She never attempted to hide her intentions from the servants. Everyone in the Mansion knew about her evil intentions.

Everyone, except Charles.

For a brief moment, Charles was overcome with a fit of sudden anger for Roy who had never told him the truth. Then he realized it was his own fault for not believing the truth when it came from others. He had never suspected that Katherine, who was always so gentle and kind, would bully Bella.

Until now, he always had the misconception that Bella was trying to use her position to try and get rid of Katherine. For this reason alone, he had kissed Katherine in front of Bella and told her he never loved her.

How could he know it was the other way around and Katherine was the one abusing Bella?

The boy’s chilling eyes dropped on Roy. He wanted to punish him for not being supportive of Bella.

“So, who is the Lady of this house?”

Roy-like everyone else-knew that Katherine had saved the Lord’s life, therefore no one dared to offend her. However, he could not ignore a direct question.

Roy made a coughing sound and bowed before Bella. “Lady Bella William is the hostess of Williams Mansion. Without the order of the Lord, no one can disrobe her of her authority.”

Brandon grinned to Bella, “It seems that the butler has explained everything clearly.”

Bella smiled and whispered to him, “He also said that everything is subject to the Lord’s order. He can replace me at any moment he likes. You must make sure not to displease Miss Katherine if you want to keep on living here.”

The boy’s face turned gloomy, as his eyes swept to Roy as if he wanted to tell him to say something good about Katherine.

“Miss Spenser, our Lord never has said that our Lady will leave the Mansion,” said Roy after shooting a glance at the kid.

“Charles has promised to marry me. When that day comes I will become the Lady of the house but I don’t see a reason to wait until then,” said Katherine boldly.

She took out her cell phone to call Charles. “Wait and see,” she said with murderous intent. “Once Charles comes back you will be the first one to get kicked out,” she said staring at Roy.

Bella watched Katherine making the phone call while her heart was beating faster. She knew without a doubt that Charles would support Katherine. Not wanting to know the outcome of the conversation, she beckoned Brandon to finish his breakfast.

“Are you coming to the office with me today?” she asked.

“No,” said the boy. “I want to play with him,” he said and pointed to Roy. “He’s my good friend.”

“When did that happen?”

“Last night when you were away,” said the boy.

“We had a good time together,” said Roy. “I was hoping Brandon could stay at home today.”

Bella shot a Katherine a side glance before she continued. “I think he will be safer with me,” she said. She was afraid that Charles would come back after receiving Katherine’s phone call and send Baron away.

“Don’t worry. I will be fine,” said the boy.

“I will see to that,” said Roy.

“All right,” said Bella. “But if anything happens to call me at once.”

She had hardly finished her words when Katherine aimed at Bella’s head and tossed her mobile phone. If it weren’t for Brandon who pulled her from the arm, she would have been hit on the forehead.

The boy gazed at the broken phone on the floor and cast a complex look towards Katherine. If the whole thing had not happened before his eyes, he would never have believed it He felt cheated by Katherine. Was this her true face?

“Are you okay?” asked Brandon.

“I’m okay but I’m not sure you will be okay when I’m at the office. You had better come with me.”

Brandon shook his head. “No, I would like to stay here.”

As Bella had not been to work for two days, it simply wasn’t an option to stay here with the boy.

“Lady, please let the boy stay here,” said Roy. “I will take care of him.”

Having no more time to waste, Bella agreed and left Brandon alone with Roy.

Meanwhile, Katherine was angry for Charles not responding to her call. She believed that Roy must have something to do with that. Maybe he had told Charles something about the way Katherine behaved when he was away. There was no other explanation for his silence. Now everyone was leaving the room. At least she could finish her breakfast in relative calmness. But no, she was too angry. Katherine wanted to throw the porcelain dishes on the wall and break the glasses. There was no other way for her to calm down.

When he returned to the study with Roy, Charles resumed his normal form. With Bella out of the way, he could spend a few hours in the body of a man. The butler brought him a suit and he began getting dressed.

“How long has Katherine been acting like this?” he asked while buttoning his shirt.

“In the past, it wasn’t too frequent. Lately, it has been happening on a daily basis.”

“Do you think she is jealous about Bella?”

“I am afraid Miss Spencer is having a very serious identity crisis.”

“I want two guards to keep an eye on her twenty-four hours a day. Got it?”

“Yes, my Lord.”

“I also need you to find a laptop for me. One which is ideal for young female professional designers.”

“Isn’t this something for Ziv to deal with?” asked Roy.

“It’s not something formal. That’s why I want you to take care of it,” said Charles.

“Yes, My Lord.”

He didn’t want Bella using Nick’s laptop any longer. He was going to give her a better one as a gift.
