Chapter 173 Katherine’s Erratic Behavior
They returned to the shower room where Roy waited for the Lord’s anger to subside before he leaned closer and whispered that it was time for him to bathe. After all, he could not go downstairs wearing the same suit.
“There is one more thing I want to talk about,” said the boy.
“Yes, My Lord.”
“I was wondering if there was a way to make peace with Nick. I want to tell him the truth.”
“My Lord, have you forgotten how many people from our family he has killed? He even revealed our secret.”
“I don’t want to take these things into consideration. I only want to make peace with him. This way we may prevent others in the future from losing their lives.”
Roy only lowered his head, “I am afraid I can’t offer any advice here.”
“Well, you can go out now. I want to shower.”
He found it impossible to shrug off his thoughts. He wondered how Bella would handle things if she were in his position. For fifty years, he had been struggling to find a solution to his problem without much success. If it wasn’t for his father’s dying words, he would have already hunted down and killed Nick in the most ruthless manner.
After stepping out of the shower, he began to dress when he noticed something unusual. He approached the door and called Roy who was waiting on the other side.
“Yes, My Lord.”
“Did you buy the t-shirt with the cartoon logo?”
“Our Lady bought it online. The parcel arrived this afternoon.”
Bella? How come he didn’t know she bought this shirt even though he had spent the entire day with her?
He opened the door and stared at Roy who once again, was trying to avoid his gaze.
“There is something else that you need to know, My Lord.”
“Go ahead.”
“Our Lady asked me to dry your clothes again.”
He frowned, “When did she say that?”
“She just sent me a text message.” Roy took out his phone and handed it to the Lord.
“Please, have a look.”
After seeing the message on the phone, he was sadder than ever. It seemed that she treated everybody well, except him. She never sent him messages with smiley faces but she had no problem doing that with the servants.
This was the kind of person she was. She would offer free smiles to Roy, Ziv, Edwin, Nick, and Brandon but not to him, Charles Williams.
He was trembling with rage when he handed the phone back to Roy.
A sudden gust of cold wind seemed to pass from the third floor to the first, as the child went to the dining room to find Bella. His mind was occupied by the darkest and most ominous thoughts. He wanted to crush Bella and make her feel sorry for treating others so well. Despite being dressed up in cheerful, bright, colors, his rigid stance and pale face made him look more like a Carpathian vampire in his castle.
Bella, however, was very pleased to see him wearing the clothes she had bought for him. Even more surprising was the fact she was wearing a similar t-shirt. This somehow lifted his mood.
At the sight of him, she immediately pinched his little face and pointed to the cartoon puppy on his chest.
“Look, our clothes are identical.”
“Why did you buy the same clothes?”
“I thought it would be a great idea. Instead of wearing those suits which make you look so serious, I decided to buy some clothes more appropriate for your age.”
At this moment, Roy saw a smile appear on the Lord’s face.
He suddenly felt that this kind of look was not bad for the Lord. Moreover, it made the Lady happy and so was the Lord.
The only problem was that this happiness was not going to last for long. As soon as they started to eat, Katherine showed up in the dining room.
She was expecting to find Charles. Instead, she found Bella in the company of a kid.
Katherine immediately took a seat at the head of the table and stared at Roy with insolence.
“Why didn't you call me for dinner? You only to show me the same respect you show for Charles.”
Roy wanted to slap her across the face for these words and tell her that he was not obliged to show her respect. However, instead of doing those things, he forced a smile on his face.
“I'm very sorry, Miss Katherine. I thought you already had your dinner in the backyard. Please let me serve you.”
“I don’t like what they’re eating!” she shouted.
“What would you like to order, Miss Katherine?”
“Black pepper tenderloin, caviar, and champagne. And you better hurry up!”
“I’m afraid it will take some time to prepare what you’re asking,” said Roy.
His comment made Katherine furious. She stood up and began waving her finger in his face.
“Don’t think I’m going to let you get away with it! I know very well what you think about me. When Charles returns I’m going to ask him to kick you out of this place. You’ll see!”
Roy smiled at her as she kept on spurning her threats at such a pace the words coming out of her mouth were barely discernible. His eyes flinched as little drops of spit shot out of her mouth.
“Miss Katherine, if you don’t have any other orders, let me go to the kitchen to prepare your meal.”
“Do you really think I’m such an idiot?” Katherine turned to one of the maids and pointed at her.
“Go to the kitchen and cook dinner for me,” then she turned to Roy and offered him a sardonic smile. “You stay here!”
“There is one more thing I want to talk about,” said the boy.
“Yes, My Lord.”
