Chapter 167 Food Cour
Everyone in the room was now staring at Bella. Concerning the presence of the kid, there were several different opinions. Some employees didn’t mind, others disagreed, while others remained neutral. Those who agreed were those who liked kids and had some of their own. Those who disagreed were those who didn’t like kids. Those who remained neutral didn’t want to express their opinion on the subject.
No matter what, since she was the “Williams Lady,” nobody dared to voice his opinion out loud.
Shirley looked at them and cleared her throat, “Everybody, please go back to your jobs.”
Then she came over to Bella and said to her with a soft voice, “In fact, our company has regulations, and no one is allowed to treat this place like a nursery. How about we find a nicer place for this kid to stay?”
“I don’t think Our Lord would mind him staying here. Brandon is his nephew,” said Bella.
Charles looked up at her from where he sat.
She was indeed a good liar.
Shirley was puzzled by these words. “Everybody knows that Our Lord is an only child. When did he have a nephew?”
A burst of laughter came from her colleagues.
“Wow! Can’t you just admit the kid’s your own nephew?” one of them sneered.
The comment caught Bella off guard and made her blush. She had no idea whether Charles had any siblings.
“Who told you such a thing you morons?” said Brandon in a voice loud enough to be heard by everyone in the room. “Charles Williams has a younger brother but that is not meant for you to know.”
Shirley was speechless and her face was as red as a beetroot. Some prominent families would indeed hide their children from the public eye. However, The Williams Family was constantly under scrutiny. If Charles had a brother, she would have known it.
Bella immediately ran to Charles and covered his mouth with her hand.
“Sorry for his temper,” she said.
“Now that you mention it, the kid does look like Our Lord,” said one of the employees.
Bella removed her hand from Brandon’s mouth to allow them to see him clearly. She also agreed that he looked like Charles. She even mistook him for Charles this morning.
By now, even Shirley was convinced. After all, she knew little about aristocratic families. The child was not at all afraid of strangers. What’s more, he seemed to possess an aristocratic temperament.
Maybe he was truly the nephew of Our Lord.
Shirley turned to Bella and said in an apologetic manner, “Even if that is true, this remains a working space. There are no exceptions even for Our Lord’s close relatives. However, the boy can stay here for today. Tomorrow we can send him to a nearby childcare center. Hope you do not mind.”
“If you ask me, he seems old enough for school,” said one of the bolder employees.
“Mind your own business,” said Bella.
“I don’t see any problem with the kid being here. Miss Spencer comes here all the time even though she is not an employee.” said another employee.
Upon hearing those words, Charles could not help but look at Bella. He was worried that Katherine’s name would make her unhappy.
Bella thought that he was angry because of the general attitude that had been displayed towards him. She squatted in front of him and said softly, “Brandon, don't be sad. They just want to work in a quiet and peaceful environment. Later on, we can go out for lunch. How would you like that?”
“What are we going to eat?” Charles curled his lips, making him so cute that Bella wanted to kiss him.
“You will know very soon,” replied Bella.
She returned to her work only to be interrupted by Shirley a few minutes later. She was holding some storybooks which she handed by Bella.
“I bought these for my son. Maybe Brandon would like to give them a look.”
“Thank you, Shirley,” said Bella and took the books.
It seemed that Shirley had something more to say but stopped in the end. She left without saying anything.
By noon, Bella got off work and took Brandon for lunch. She brought him to the food court of a large shopping mall located nearby. The spectacle of greasy hamburgers and cholesterol-loaded fries was simply too much for him. He had never been to such a place before.
“Is this where we are going to eat delicious food?”
“Yes. How about I buy you a hot dog and some fries?”
“Okay,” said the boy.
She took out her purse and approached the counter. Apart from Brandon’s lunch, she also ordered a turkey sandwich for herself.
“Once you’ve eaten all this you can have a milkshake or an ice cream,” she said to him.
Together they sat on a table and began eating their food. However, Brandon didn’t seem to be enjoying himself.
“What’s wrong?” asked Bella.
“Can we get out of here? They’re too many people.”
No matter what, since she was the “Williams Lady,” nobody dared to voice his opinion out loud.
