Chapter 166 In A Bad Mood
The main reason Bella wanted to bring Charles to the company was that she was afraid he would have displayed a sense of inferiority if he stayed at the Williams Mansion. Though he seemed to be arrogant, his arrogance was just a cover he used to conceal his sense of inferiority.
After finishing his breakfast, Brandon wiped his mouth in an elegant manner and looked up at Bella.
“Let’s go,” he said.
Bella saw that he had good dining etiquette and gave him a pat on the head.
“Well done. Brandon!”
Last night she had praised him because he had dried his hair on his own. At that time, he did not feel awkward. Now he felt embarrassed in front of Roy and the other servants.
He could tell that Roy was doing his best to hold back his laughter.
His face changed color and said to Bella coldly, “Don’t you plan to go to work? Why are we still here?”
“You’re right.” Bella bended to poke his nose lightly, “I did not expect that you would be so shy,” she said.
Abraham was waiting for Bella at the gate. He was shocked when she saw her appear with the boy-Charles by her side. He did not want to be exiled to the Kingdom of the Sea just because he saw the Lord in his child form. Life here was so wonderful.
Brandon was about to get in the car by himself, but Bella stopped him. He turned at her angrily but when he saw the kindness in her face, all his anger disappeared.
“Let me help you,” she said.
“Do you always treat other people that good?” asked Brandon when the car had started.
Bella looked at him in a surprised manner. Abraham did his best to ignore their conversation. For some reason he was too afraid to look at the boy. She couldn’t understand why he was behaving like this.
The car ran smoothly. Seeing that she did not speak, Charles held her hand tight.
“Isn’t it stupid to pick a random person and treat him that well? What if he turns out a bad person?” he asked her.
Bella looked at his serious face. She could not help but smile. She pinched his cute and round face and gave her reply. “Maybe you’re right. I need to figure out what to do if you are a bad person.” She poked his forehead and smiled, “I am not afraid even if you turn out a devil in the flesh.”
“Why is that?”
“The Master of the Williams Mansion shall protect me. You will find yourself in serious trouble if you dare to bully me. He will treat you in a very horrible manner.”
Though it was not good to frighten a child in such a manner, Charles was glad to hear these words. He curved his lips and smiled in an enigmatic manner. Her words made him feel proud.
“However, I am not afraid you’re a bad person,” she said and pinched his cheek.
The boy did not reply. He just held her hand tightly. Her hand was small and soft like his. He could feel it merge with his own. He wanted to hold her hand forever and never let go.
Today Bella had shown up at work earlier than usual. She pointed to an empty seat near her desk and asked Brandon to sit there and remain quiet.
After a while, he began to feel bored. Of course, he would be bored in such an environment. There was nothing for him to do here. The computers were only for employees and there were no comic books in the building.
“What do you want to do, Brandon?” she asked.
“I‘d like to see that,” he said pointing to a sketchbook on her desk.
Bella went through it to make sure there was nothing too inappropriate for a kid, before giving it to him. “You got to hold on for a couple of hours. I’ll buy you some comic books when its lunchtime,” she said. “I got to go to a meeting now. Will be back as soon as possible.”
Brandon let a grunt escape his mouth. When did he ever care about comic books? Holding the sketchbook, he snug in a corner far away from any prying eyes.
He opened the book on the first page and saw a drawing that could might as well be about the day he threw her in the water. It depicted a girl struggling with the waves and the strong wind. In the sky above her were two demonic eyes staring down at her.
The name “Williams” was written above those eyes.
Another drawing was about the incident with the stolen necklace, and how he had helped Bella prove her innocence. There was also one about the fake erotic photos that supposedly depicted Bella.
He noticed how her emotions for him were evolving with each drawing. As her depictions of him were becoming more favorable, he could tell at which stage she had started to like him. At some point though, he could not help feel sorry for her.
In the drawing of him slamming Bella against the wall, she painted that her heart was bleeding. While he was embracing Katherine under the tree, she was on the ground with an arrow on her heart.
Her drawings also depicted Edwin, the Little Prince, the Williams Mansion, Ziv, Roy and her colleagues. She depicted everyone with a smile but he was absent from these pleasant drawings. In the end, there was nothing but a jumble of lines. Had Bella removed him from her life?
He once hoped that he could see her drawings but now he had regretted it. He didn’t want to look at these pages any longer. They made him feel like a monster.
He closed the book and put it on the desk.
Suddenly he heard a scream, “Whose child it this and why is he here?”
Bella immediately stood up and explained, “He’s with me. I brought him here.”
