Chapter 160 Nick’s Company

She looked around the room and laughed in a frantic manner. Was there anything she could look forward to? Would Charles agree to take care of her forever? Was he going to tell her that the surrogacy contract was no longer valid?

He had forced her to say the three words that were so hard to say. However, after that, he treated her with absolute contempt to ensure that she was nothing more than a baby-making machine. 

She turned off the night lamp, closed her eyes and tried to convince herself that Charles wasn’t worth it.

Meanwhile, he was back to the master bedroom. Until now, he took everything for granted, but now he started to doubt that. He didn’t know what to say to Bella because for the first time he had begun to doubt himself.

Initially, he had brought her to the Williams Mansion because of her blood. What he didn’t expect at that time was that he would start to enjoy her company. 

The big change came after the car accident. Despite her miserable condition, she saved his life by pushing him out of the way of an upcoming car. If that wasn’t enough, she also took a bullet for him.

He expressed his gratitude to Bella by telling her in front of Katherine that he didn’t love her. The truth was that he was in love with the feeling of being loved. Only Bella was capable of such an unconditional type of love

He did not exactly understand the way human love worked, the only girl he contacted before was Katherine. Unlike Bella, Katherine was gentle, obedient and never provoked him. Bella on the other hand was extremely difficult to get along. She always complained that he was mean to her. The main problem was that Charles didn’t know how to treat her otherwise.

Bella woke up at seven twenty the next morning. While she was getting dressed, the door opened and Charles came in. Her first move was to cover the exposed parts of her body.

“What’s the big deal? I’ve already seen you naked,” he said.

Bella avoided his glance and buttoned swiftly her shirt. She had no idea how much more she could bear.

Charles wicked eyes gleamed in the dim light.

“Bella, what should I do with you?”

Bella turned around to face him.

“My Lord, I thought a lot about what you said last night and I have made my decision. I choose to stay here and take care of the child.”

“All right,” he said and shrugged his shoulders.

Traces of fear reflected in her eyes as he came forward. Then for some reason he paused.

“I just want to tell you, you needn’t give me blood this morning. You can come back early in the evening. Katherine won’t be here for a couple of days.”

Bella looked at him in surprise. “My Lord, are you treating me as your mistress? Aren’t you afraid that your beloved one will get angry?”

Charles's face suddenly darkened. 

“Bella!” he shouted.

Seeing his alarmed face must have pleased Bella. She patted her chest and smiled pretentiously. “Have you ever considered how hard it will be for me to adapt if you start treating me with kindness?”

Her remarks must have hit the mark. Charles left the room but not without slamming the door as hard as he could. The fact that he was capable of feeling guilt made her glad. It showed that he still possessed a few traces of conscience.

Charles had breakfast with Katherine. This Bella in a bad mood that lasted for the rest of the day. If that wasn’t enough, Shirley informed Bella that Charles would be going on a business trip.  

Without any other clients to deal with, Bella started to make Nick's photo album. She spoke on the phone with him and they agreed that they needed to do a reshoot. After the lunch break, she took a cab to his company in the suburbs.

Although the decoration was quite simple, the place looked very elegant and fashionable. It was full of a youthful energy that was completely in line with the boss’s character.

When Bella arrived, Nick was standing at the front gate and giving orders to a group of people.

“Hey, Bella, here,” he shouted and waved his hand at her.

Bella rushed over to him and they hugged each other in a friendly manner.

“What’s going on here?” she asked.

“We’re organizing a free medical check-up. For promotional purposes of course.”

“The way you promote your company is quite radical.”

“Of course. I will send a product catalog to every person that shows up here. It’s much more cost-effective than placing road signs. It can also prove beneficial for the people. It’s like killing two birds with one stone. But nobody can say if it’s going to work or not. We will have to wait a few days to see the results. That’s why I want you to give me the new product catalogue as soon as possible. This way we can do the same promotion in other cities as well. Then our products will become well known all over the country.”

“Okay. I will do my best,” said Bella. “When can I see the product?”

“I will take you there right now.” Nick rushed to a group of people who were carrying boxes full of medical equipment. They were laying them down in a rather careless and noisy manner.

“Come on, be careful,” he shouted at them.
