Chapter 134 - Love her?
“Be honest.”
“That's it, it's just a bad mood. Charles, you don't have to overthink it.”
“Then come home with me now.” He pulled her and decided to leave.
“No, I don’t want to return.” Her tears came down suddenly, “I want to stay here, and then go back to my home.”
“Why?”
“You already have a wife. I shouldn't stay with you. I can't have children. I don't deserve to stay with you.”
“What are you talking about?”
His hands clasped her waist as if he afraid she would vanish. At this time, he couldn't see Bella at all, and definitely could not see her tremble in the wind.
“No,” Katherine said, “This time when I saw you, you were different.”
“How can I be different?”
“Forget it. I don't want to talk about it.” Katherine pushed him away, “You should go home. I should go back to my own country, I won’t mention this to my dad.”
She turned and tried to go back to the tree.
He wouldn’t release her hand, “Katherine, what happened today? Tell me. I'll fix it all.”
“Charles, I don't want to say please leave me my dignity.”
“Katherine!”
Katherine looked up at him and saw the concern in his eyes, she felt satisfied.
Sure enough, he cared about her, now for the second part of her plan.
“Charles.” She held him close, “I really don't want to say.”
“Let's talk about it.”
Katherine's voice was weak, “Last night, you rejected me. I know it is not just because we aren’t married, but you aren’t attracted to me. Back home the age of consent is 16. I didn't take it seriously before. But yesterday, I did, and you still rejected me. Charles, what do you want me to think? You said you didn't love Bella, but you had sex with her. I'm not a child. I know you don’t love me.”
“Bullshit!”
“But Charles, even if you don't love me, I still love you. I don't know what to do, I want to let go, but I can't. So, I didn't immediately return home. I wanted to convince myself that it will be alright. I could wait. As long as I could see you every day, I'll be happy. Charles, I know you are with me because of a promise you made when I was a child. But I love you so much. I don't want to let go.”
“This morning, did Bella tell you anything?”
Katherine was surprised, “How did you know? Who told you that?”
“A servant.”
He looked at her, “Last night, you were hurt by me and stimulated by Bella this morning, so you left?”
Katherine lowered her head and kept silent.
Charles couldn't see her expression, but Bella saw her lip rise as she tried to suppress her excitement.
Bella had thought she may have had a chance to win his heart, from the two days he treated her tenderly. However, since she came into their life, she never expected to get the care Katherine would get.
She knew that he had never loved her.
The wind blew his hair, and a few strands fell in front of his forehead.
He asked slowly, “Katherine, what do you want?”
Katherine suddenly pushed him away, and her tears blew away in the wind. “I don't know. I don't know. Leave me alone. I'd like to know what to do, and I have to think if I should be with you.”
Looking at Katherine's mood changing, his eyebrows raised, “Katherine, don't think about it.”
“I didn't need to think about it. It is you who doesn’t love me.” She pointed to Bella, “You fell in love with her, didn't you?”
He turned and glanced at Bella.
Katherine stepped forward, with despair in her voice, “Didn't you?”
Her body froze, for that, was the answer Bella wanted to know as well.
He forced her to say that she loved him. But he never said it in return.
Now, Katherine asked him. What would he say?
Her heart lifted, and she stared straight in their direction.
His voice was not loud, but each word Bella heard clearly.
“I don't love her, Katherine, I'm telling you I don't love her.”
Katherine covered her face with both hands and looked at him in disbelief.
He explained, “I've never loved her.”
Katherine held him tight, “Do you still love me?”
“My heart never changed.”
“I've not changed either. I've always loved you.”
His hands fell on her hair.
Each of his words was honey for Katherine, but a knife for Bella.
At last, the truth came out. That was the answer to the question Bella had asked for such a long time.
Bella looked at the two people under the tree, and her heart sank.
Katherine responded, “Charles, you still love me, then you will choose me right?”.
“Of course.”
Katherine was delighted, “Charles, you won’t make me wait too long?”
“That's right. I'll handle everything.”
Bella could not breathe, it was as if every inhalation hurt her heart.
“That's it, it's just a bad mood. Charles, you don't have to overthink it.”
