Chapter 131 – Katherine’s Gone

Bella lowered her head submissively, “Yes.”

She was upset by the fact that she was late, Bella tried to run as fast as her legs could go.

Charles stared at the footprints which scattered around messily.

“Don't take the subway next time.” He ordered.

“Well.” If she knew she would have been late, she wouldn’t have taken the subway. It was always so crowded that she could feel her lungs being pressed by other passengers.

She suddenly realized, “How did you know I'm on the subway?”

“I don’t, I didn't know you’re on the subway, I just assumed.”

“Did you send someone to follow me?”

He could tell she was angry, “Follow you? Why would I do that?”

“So how did you…” then she knew, “You could see I'm waiting for the bus?”

He didn't speak.

Suddenly, her anger exploded, “You don't have to do that, Charles…”

She knew that any attempt to explain herself was meaningless, and sighed,  “My Lord, do you have any orders?”

He looked at her, “Go on, why did you stop?”

“I know you won't believe me, you can just punish me directly. How much will you reduce my pay by this time?” That was what Bella cared about now.

“I know you didn't do it.”

Bella stared at him surprised, there was a coldness in her chest.

“You believe me?”

Did he actually believe her?

He nodded, “Yeah, I know you didn’t push her, but you were with her. She is not in good health and was injured yesterday. It must have been about what you told her. So, she fell.” Bella looked at him, “Tell me what you told her?”

Yes, he believed that she wouldn't do anything physical such as pushing Katherine in front of so many servants but thought she used malicious words to stimulate her.

As she did not speak, he leaned forward and looked at her, “Bella, don't deny it. You have the ability to make people angry.”

Like him, every time she was able to enrage him.

Over the past 200 years, nobody had dared to offend him. Bella did not just insult him one time, but he couldn't kill her because she was the only one in more than 200 years with the genes of the mermaid.

Bella knew that even if she repeated what Katherine had said to her, he would not believe that his sweet Katherine would say that, and he would only believe that Bella was the malicious woman.

If Roy hadn't come in to remind him that there was a meeting, he would have kept her until he forced her to admit it.

Bella watched as he entered the conference room with the secretaries, and then quickly opened the design webpage.

Just as she opened it, the customer's information gushed, and the contents of their thoughts so that Bella could think about it before they met, and confirmed the noon meeting time.

It's not too far if they didn't eat lunch she could return in time.

She wrote down all the questions the customer asked and analyzed them one by one.

Absorbed in her thoughts, she didn't realize that Charles stood next to her.

He held her wrist before she saw him, pulled her up from her chair and her body slammed against the desk.

Bella was utterly unprepared for this and stumbled as he pulled her to his private elevator.

“Charles Williams, what happened to you?”

She looked at his face puzzled.

“Bella Williams.” Charles sounded terribly angry. It felt like he was interrogating a prisoner, “I'll ask you again. This morning, what did you say to Katherine?”

“I didn't say anything!”

“How dare you lie!”

She looked up at him, and leaned against the elevator wall, “Why do you want to know what I told her, not what she told me?”

“I don't need to know what she told you. I asked you what you told her!”

She really tried to recall what she had said to Katherine.

“I am asking you, say it! Otherwise.”

Bella thought of her mother who was threatened by Len Sanders when she was healthy, and while she was sick, she was threatened by Charles. “I said….!”

She tried to remember, “To work.”

“Then…”

“..... I wish the day came soon.”

“Then…”

To be honest, she couldn’t remember what she had said to her.

How could you remember every single word you said?

He saw she was struggling to recall, snorted and flung her hand away, “Bella, you'd better remember what you said to Katherine.”

He gave her a glance, not with coldness as usual but with hatred.

Charles held her by her neck, and pushed her into the wall of the elevator, “If anything happened to Katherine, I would drain your blood.”

As he left these words, the elevator door opened. He held Bella by the wrist and pulled her out straight.

That was very painful for her, but she tried to bear it.

He walked fast, and Bella dragged by him, within a dozen paces, she had to keel three times.

She was a mess, and shouted at him, “If you're going to drain my blood, you should let me know why.”

His voice was as cold as ice, “Katherine disappeared.”

“Her disappearance had nothing to do with me. I just told her two sentences this morning, and it was she who tried to talk to me.”

“So, you must recall what you told her.”

What did she say?

It was Katherine who was talking most the time. Bella just answered when she was furious.

Now that she disappeared. Charles blamed her.

He went to the car and ordered, “Get in.”

Standing outside the vehicle, Bella glanced at her mobile phone, “Are you going to look for Katherine?”

She had to meet her client.

“Get in.” his voice became more dangerous.

“So why do you want to take me? I don't know where she went.”

“If I can't find her, I will make you pay!”

She was furious at him, “Well if you really cannot find her, let me pay.”

At that moment she turned and went in the direction of the station. Bella didn't believe that Katherine was really missing. Katherine was desperate to be his wife so how could she give up her place so quickly. Bella wasn’t interested in wasting her time to look for her.

“Bella Williams!” He took a few steps to catch up with her, pulled her into the car and locked the door. He did not give her a chance to head off at all.
