Chapter 121 – In the Eyes of the Others

Bella was shocked to see that Katherine was in the doorway.

She looked at Charles and noticed the nervousness in his eyes.

She smiled calmly, “My Lord, I’m leaving.”

But Charles left first to chase Katherine.

Yes, the ignorance was the sharpest sword. It caused no scar physically but hurt people psychologically.

Bella returned to her room to change her clothes and then went to the bus stop without breakfast.

She could still hide from them.

When she arrived at work, it was still early, so there were still colleagues that hadn’t come yet.

After about half an hour, the rest arrived one after another. But Charles still had not shown up even though the workday started a half an hour ago.

People in the office began to talk.

“Katherine had come, so the Lord must have had a wonderful night and could not get up early.”

“Hush! What are you talking about? Don’t you see the Lady over there.”

“What Lady? She just has the title. Didn’t you see that Katherine held the Lord’s hand and they left together yesterday? When will you see that she is the one who has him?”

“It shows that the Lady is dignified. She is reluctant to show off their love here.”

“Do you mean that Katherine is not dignified?”

“Well, I didn’t say that.”

“Quiet. The Lord comes.”

The office fell into silence immediately, and they all began to work.

Bella was amused. If she was not their topic of gossip, she indeed liked that relaxed atmosphere in the office.

Charles came with Katherine. Ziv followed closely behind them.

They walked through the reception area towards Charles’s office.

As they approached his office, Katherine suddenly smiled.

It must be interesting to let Bella see that.

Charles walked quickly in front; Katherine jogged to catch up with him and called his name sweetly, “Charles.”

Charles turned and slowed down upon hearing her call, “What’s the matter?”

“You are so quick.” Katherine reached him and held his arm.

Charles was accustomed to Katherine holding onto him and kept walking.

After a few steps, Katherine screamed out and tripped.

Charles stopped at once and asked attentively, “What’s wrong, have you sprained your ankle?”

Katherine held him, and her eyes reddened, “I just wanted to keep up with you and did not watch my steps.”

Charles looked at Katherine's feet, “Can you walk now?”

“Yes.”

Charles frowned at the sight of her swollen ankle and picked her up.

She put her hands around his neck and leaned against his chest. She reminded him in a shy voice, “Will that be appropriate here? Everyone is watching us.”

“Who dared to judge that?”

Charles carried her into his office.

Katherine screaming out had attracted the attention of everyone here, they all saw that he had picked her up, including Bella.

Yes, no one dared to judge that.

Everyone then stared at Bella after Charles entered the office.

Bella did not know whether Katherine tripped on purpose, but she knew Charles cared about her a lot.

She thought of the days when Charles threw her away, then he healed her with Elsa’s medicine. He did not care about her at all. When it came to Katherine, his attitude was entirely different. He did not care what others would think. He picked her up and carried her around the building, in front of everyone. How unprofessional.

Everyone here knew that Bella was his wife. What situation he had put her in by being so intimate with another woman? What should she do with the contempt and sympathy that others gave her?

Bella stared at the computer screen. After a while, she resumed the search for jobs.

Edwin was a good customer. He gave her a five-star review on the website. Also, he posted her work so others could see it, which made more people consult Bella for business.

Bella began to forget her unhappiness while she worked.

She was not assigned with much work here. So, she had a lot of free time. She didn’t have to rely on Charles if she was able to set up her own studio.

Charles put Katherine on the sofa and said to Ziv, “Go to buy a pair of flats.”

“Yes, my Lord.”

Charles noticed the 6-inch heels of her shoes, he said, “Don’t wear such high heels.”

“Mhm.”

“Does it hurt?”

“It’s much better now.” Katherine leaned against his chest and asked worriedly, “You picked me up and carried me in here, what would the others think of me? Will Bella be upset?”

“Don’t overthink again.”

Katherine nodded her head. Triumph flashed through her eyes.

Bella, you can show your jealousy now!

It became lunchtime, Bella went to the cafeteria alone. Others ignored her, and no one was willing to sit on the same side as her while they ate.

Her sadness made her appetite disappear, but she had to eat. She needed to keep her strength up to be able to take care of her mother.

People in the cafeteria were still gossiping about her. They all talked with delight in their voices.

Was it funny to take pleasure in her misfortune?

When Ziv found her, she was doing her best to eat her lunch. It was difficult for her to swallow, so she drank water with every mouthful.

Is the meal that unpalatable? But Williams Group’s Cafeteria was of three-star standard.

“Milady, the Lord asks for you to go to his office.”

“What does he want me to do there? To see how much he loves Katherine?” asked Bella. She looked up at Ziv, “Please tell the Lord that what I had told him yesterday would not change. I will still ignore Katherine on all occasions. I would not mind going if he wanted to see how well I can ignore her.”

“Milady, Katherine has gone back to the mansion. The Lord wants to invite you to have lunch with him.”

Bella suddenly coughed, and her eyes reddened. She smiled bitterly, “Well, he wants me to have the leftovers of their lunch? But I am full now. What should I do?”

He saw that Bella was determined not to go with him, so he left.

Ziv repeated what Bella had said to Charles.

Charles stood in the front of the French Window and frowned.
