Chapter 119 - Charles’s Secre

“Charles, you have Katherine, but you still forced me to admit my feeling for you. Do you know how cruel that is to me? Do you know how much courage I needed to have to be able to see you two together without running away?”

Bella stared at him. Her eyes began to cloud with tears again. But she still did not let them flow.

She would not allow herself to cry. No one would care about her even if she cried. She was the only one to feel hurt.

Charles sighed and said, “Bella, I don’t understand. You knew that Katherine existed, but you still admitted that you love me.”

“Yes, I love you. I couldn’t control my feelings whether you love someone else or not.” Bella covered her chest with her hand and stepped back. “I know why you are angry, it is not because I met up with Edwin or I didn't tell you when I left work. It is just because I make Katherine unhappy!”

Though Charles did not reply, she knew she was right just from his expression.

“As you said before, I am just a surrogate mother. You are my boss; she is your love. I am not able to treat her the way you want. I have also tried thousands of times to accept you two. By doing that, you wouldn’t be able to fine me anymore due to my good behaviour. But, I am unable to make it…”

She was unable even give them a hypocritical blessing.

Bella knew she did not have to accept them, because she would have felt sad every time that she thought of that.

Charles looked at her and felt agitated.

Why did this woman always make him annoyed? Why couldn’t she just be submissive and well behaved, just like Katherine?

As he looked at her reddish eyes, he said in a deep voice, “Do you know what you are like now?”

Bella remained silent with her lips pressed together. But she knew he would not speak good of her.

Charles gritted his teeth and uttered, “A jealous woman.”

Though he knew that Bella would feel uncomfortable when Katherine came, he did not expect that she would have envied her so much.

He did not find any reason to tell Bella about Katherine before, because he only wanted her blood and her genes. He did not realize that he had stolen her heart. What was worse, his heart was also messed up.

He was delighted when she told him that she loved him. He thought he could deal well with the relationships among the three. But things were not as easy as he thought they would be.

Charles pointed at the door, “You can leave now.”

Bella was not surprised. She left with the “Jealous woman” title that he had labelled her, though he had told her earlier that they could sleep in the same bed.

He looked around at the empty room, Charles felt that something was missing.

He opened the door and walked quickly toward the study. Ziv followed him.

“My Lord is there anything you need to be dealt with?” Ziv asked when he saw that the Lord searched for something on the computer.

“How long have we been away from the sea?” Charles suddenly looked up at him and asked.

Ziv paused for a moment and replied, “After you succeeded the throne, it’s been two hundred and three years since we left the sea.”

“More than two hundred years?” Charles tapped the desk with his fingers, “We have been searching for the genes of a mermaid for more than two hundred years!”

There was only one like Bella in more than two hundred years.

What should he do with her?

Why did he have to wait two hundred years? Women two hundred years ago were not so problematic. Because at that time it was a sin to be jealous.

Katherine laid in her bed satisfied.

Charles’s words to Bella when they were on the beach echoed in her head repeatedly. His reaction made her pleased. It was clear who was more important to Charles.

She could also see that Bella had seriously angered him.

As she thought of that, Katherine could not help smile.

Bella hated the sight of the two of them together. With some more tricks, she would be kicked out of Williams Mansion forever.

Katherine knew Charles well. He liked others to obey him. Though sometimes she would also make requests, she would always do it by playing the victim.

She thought Charles had found a smart surrogate mother, but she saw how stupid Bella was. Katherine hadn't started her tricks yet, and Bella had already found herself in trouble.

So how long should she take to drive away such a stupid woman? One month? No, too long. She felt upset every time she saw Bella. So, a week.

Katherine went to bed early, but she found that it was hard to fall asleep. All she thought about now was where she needed to start her tricks.

What should she do to cause Bella to make more mistakes; then Charles would force her to leave.

Bella was also sleepless.

She had counted thousands of sheep, but it was useless.

She was depressed, indeed. It turned out that you loved someone more after you said it out loud. When Charles did not know that she loved him, she thought that when she didn’t see them, it did not matter whether he was with Katherine or not.

However, now Charles knew she loved him, and he still appeared with Katherine in front of her. She was unable to stand that.

He was gentle to her before Katherine came; she thought he was falling for her. She thought after how long they were together, feelings had generated between them. But now all her feelings turned out to be an illusion.

Bella stared into the dark night and sighed.

What a life she led!

The door suddenly opened.

Bella was alarmed, and her body stiffened.

The sound of the footsteps remained soft. Someone approached slowly.

A gust of the familiar sea wind blew, Bella immediately recognized that it was Charles.

What was he doing here?

She closed her eyes. But her eyelashes shook.

Charles walked toward her bed. She held onto the quilt tight.

He stood beside the bed and looked at her quietly. He touched her cheek.

Why was he so puzzled?

He had been looking for the mermaid genes since he was the King of the Sea.

Overwhelmed with the joy of accomplishing his mission the moment he found Bella. He had only wanted her blood and her genes. What she needed or whether she was willing to or not wasn’t something that he needed to consider.

So, he would imprison Bella to prevent her from running away. He even married her to legalize their relationship. Because those who were also looking for the genes of the mermaid would find her once this thing turned into a big deal.

He would not wait for another two hundred years, which was too long for not only the Tree of Life in the seabed but also Elsa.
