Chapter 112 - Head to Head

Katherine had come here! To their work! This was a nightmare, right?

Katherine raised her head from Charles’s arms and looked at him with tears in her eyes.

She gently pushed Charles away, and stood there quietly, as she wiped away her tears, then smiled to him, “I will wait for you.”

She pretended to be weak and fragile, which made Charles automatically wish to comfort her. He said apathetically, “I married her because your body had been hurt, and you are not suitable to bear a child. In this case, I married her. Don’t overthink it.”

“I...” Katherine turned her head and touched her belly dramatically to cover her sadness. “I will try not to think about it too much. I knew that you must have had a good reason. I don't mind, I know I am not good enough.”

Katherine was a very outstanding woman. Now, she showed such sorrow, which made her look like an enchanting rose swaying in the wind and rain. People can't help but desire to protect her.

Men do like this kind of woman.

Indeed, Charles could not stand it, and he hugged her in his arms, patted her shoulders and comforted her silently.

No matter the language or behaviour, Charles had shown it clearly that Bella was just an incubator, and he would marry Katherine sooner or later.

Katherine leaned into Charles’s arms and smiled. Her darling Charles indeed loved her. Even though Bella was his legal wife, he didn’t hesitate to show his love for Katherine.

Bella cleared her throat and bent over to pick up the documents. She tried to keep her voice steady, “Excuse me, I am leaving. My Lord, the file is here on your desk.” As she placed it on the top by his chair.

Bella walked towards the doorstep by step, and she got closer and closer to them.

As Bella passed by them, Katherine looked over from Charles’ arms, and the sweet sound arose with a tolerant attitude. “It doesn't matter. If you need to talk about business, you should talk about it first.”

Her words sounded like a presenter.

“No, it’s ok.” Bella shook her head, “I just came to help my Lord find documents.”

She felt incredibly uncomfortable. And that she must find a way out of that room as soon as possible.

Bella did not dare to look at what they were doing now, she did not wish to see Charles’ intimacy and care for Katherine, which Charles had never provided for her.

Because Katherine was his love, of course, he treated her special.

“Wait.” Just as Bella was about to close the door of the office, Charles suddenly opened his mouth.

Bella stopped, and then looked at him. “My Lord, is there something else?”

“Announce to the others, the meeting is delayed...” When he talked he saw Bella’s bright eyes, he suddenly couldn’t continue saying what it was and indifferently said. “Forget it, you can go.”

“Fine.” Bella smiled reluctantly, then silently closed the door.

Was it Charles, did he come for her?

She had believed that a man like Charles didn’t know how to be kind, but now she saw that he could be gentle to a woman like Katherine.

Bella wanted to tell her to go away, but Katherine had started to talk, “Hello, I am Katherine, this surrogacy job must be hard work for you.”

She deliberately stressed the words “surrogacy,” and Bella clearly felt her hostility and pride.

Was she a threat to Katherine? Was it worth it for her to have such hostility towards Bella?

Bella uninterestedly said, “Hello, I am Bella.”

Bella raised her lips in a forced smile and somehow felt bitter. She had been humble, but Katherine still came to show off.

She definitely knew what Katherine meant to Charles.

Katherine approached her and leaned in to whisper threats into her ear. “Bella, since I have come, I will take back everything that belongs to me. You are just a surrogate mother, there is no need for you to be his wife.”

Bella stepped back, Katherine straightened her posture and smiled confidently. “I promise, it won’t be long.”

“Are... you trying to intimidate me?” Bella frowned.

She didn’t have Katherine’s noble status, but this did not mean she had no feelings.

“Intimidate?” Katherine smiled disdainfully. “You are just a surrogate mother; why would I feel the need to intimidate you? Do you think I feel threatened by you?”

Bella looked at her and suddenly smiled.

Her smile stunned Katherine, and she frowned unpleasantly. “Why are you still smiling? You just heard what my darling said, he married you just because I was unable to give birth to a child. He will still marry me, you heard that. Aren’t you worried?”

Bella stood upright and looked at her confidently. Bella’s voice was light, but her tone was serious. “Maybe you don’t know, but in Canada when someone gives birth to a baby their status rises, and right now, I am Charles’s legal wife.”

Katherine had never heard of this, but the literal meaning had made her very unhappy, “Bella, we will see whether you have the ability to bear a baby.”
