Chapter 76 – Cinderella!

Bella felt the hostile eyes cast upon her when she returned to the office.

She lowered her head and looked at the secretary's manual placed on the desk.

If they knew she had been beaten up by Charles just now, they would not look at her that way.

After all, now in their eyes, she was the woman who made sure they had no chance to be with Charles. She became the public enemy of hundreds of millions of women.

Bella forced herself not to think of that. She indeed felt better now. Elsa’s medicine worked, her pain was relieved.

Suddenly she thought of something and took off the ring. She checked it carefully and found her name “Bella” engraved on it.

He did not lie.

Bella was dejected and put the ring on. Carving a name on a ring was something people in love would do from her point of view. How could she have thought of that since he did not love her?

It was said that there are two kinds of couples in this world. One was the couple that got married out of love; the other was the couple that got married just because they should get married. While neither of them suited Charles and her.

At 5:30 p.m., Bella went to the restroom before she got off work.

The restroom was the place where gossips gathered. Several women were fixing their makeup in the front of the mirror.

Someone started saying, “Do you know the reason why Bella was able to get married to the Lord? She was nothing special. I thought she was good looking, but many people are better looking than she is. As for the diploma and talent, she hadn’t graduated yet.”

Then they began to chat.

One of them sneered, “Maybe it’s because she is good in bed.”

“Is that true? She hasn’t graduated yet?”

“You know nothing. Men never think that women are too young. Some even prefer infants.”

“If the Lord really wanted a woman, he did not have to marry her. What’s more, Katherine Spencer was said to be the fiancée of the Lord. How come Bella suddenly showed up?”

“Yeah, Miss Katherine often came to the company before. The Lord treated her gently.” A voice sounded with some regret, “Arrogant as the Lord is, I never thought that he would be so gentle to Katherine.”

“You are right, I would feel better if Katherine was the wife of the Lord. As for Bella, well…”

“Forget about it. Bella is just like Cinderella and will meet her prince one day. Not like us, we just have to work to earn our money.”

Gradually they all went out.

Bella then walked out of the lavatory and looked at herself in the mirror, she smiled sarcastically, Was she like Cinderella?

What she had met was a devil rather than a prince.

“Milady!” Another lavatory door opened. The new manager Shirley came out and looked at her with a soft smile, ”Don’t take what they said to heart. They are not malicious.”

“That’s all right. I don’t care.” She also gossiped with Dora. So, she didn’t even give it a thought.

“Shirley?” Bella said her name just as she was about to leave.

“What’s up, Milady?”

“Nothing important. I’m just wondering who Katherine Spencer was? They spoke of her just now. Was she the Lord’s fiancée?”

Did he really have a fiancée?

Shirley smiled a formal smile and replied, “Milady, we know nothing about the private affairs of the Lord. They were just guessing.”

“Thank you anyway.” She would not keep asking if Shirley was reluctant to tell her.

“Alright, see you later Milady.”

There was indeed a Katherine Spencer. Whether she was the fiancée of the Lord remained unknown.

Bella felt dizzy. She squatted down on her heels and began to search for news about Charles.

However, the stories about him were always decent. Except for the news about him attending the opening of the Hotel with her last time. In the press, he attended all the activities alone. There was no gossip about him at all.

Was it his way to protect Katherine or what?

Her phone rang when she was about to search for Katherine Spencer online. It was Charles. She answered it quickly, “Bella, get your butt over here! Now!”

Bella agreed and hung up. Then she rushed to Charles’s office as quick as possible only to find that no one was there.

She phoned Charles, but she was unable to get through, the line was always busy, so was Ziv’s phone.

Bella stopped every colleague she met to ask whether they had seen the Lord or not.

But none of them did.

She then happened to see a person coming back in a rush and leaving immediately after getting her phone.

Bella stopped her and asked, “Have you seen the Lord?”

“I just saw that he left with Ziv and drove away.” She gave her the answer as she ran away.

Drove away…

Bella froze. So, did he just play a trick on her?

Just because she had sold the ring, his punishment for her was not finished after all the things he had done to her that afternoon.

Well, it was her fault.

Thinking about that, Bella went to her desk and fetched her bag.

She did, however, know her way back to Williams Mansion.

Charles saw the missed calls from Bella after he hung up his phone and he felt rather happy.

He closed his eyes, and in his mind,  he saw how she stopped the colleagues and how anxious she was.

“Drive.” Charles opened his eyes and ordered.

“Shouldn’t we wait for her?” Ziv hesitated. It might take her more than an hour to get home from here.

“Don’t care about the person who is always late.” Although he knew she was not late on purpose.

Bella went out of the building only to find Charles’s Maybach drive away without hesitation.

So cruel that man was!

Bella then walked to the bus stop to wait for the bus.

The people that waited for the bus instantaneously divided into two lines, Bella and the rest.

She heard their gossip even though they whispered it, “You see that? The Lord's wife is waiting for the bus here.”

“They must have had a fight. Did you see the Lord’s car leave just now?”

“In my opinion, it is pathetic to marry into a wealthy family. If my boyfriend dared to leave me alone like that, I’d show him what I am capable of. But look at her, even if she was alone, she still had to go home by herself alone.“

“Those rich female stars who marry into the wealthy family all lead a careful life. A nobody like Bella, she is simply cannon fodder among the wealthy families.”

The bus came, Bella would go back to Williams Mansion, it was not in the same direction as they went. She got on and left them behind.

Did she marry into wealth?

She did not “marry” into anything! The female stars had luxurious weddings, many gifts. She got nothing.

She was just a tool used by Charles to give birth to his child. She would be thrown away when this task was completed.
