Chapter 75 – You Should Have Looked

“No.” Bella stood up straight. She shook her head and said, “I’m not afraid.” After that, she immediately realized that she had overreacted. Then she added, “I have done nothing wrong, why would I feel afraid?”

Just as Bella stopped speaking, she noticed the change in Charles’s expression.

His blue eyes were filled with anger. He looked at Bella furiously, and every word he said was like a sword stabbing her heart and took away her breath.

“Bella, it seemed that you refuse to be convinced until you are faced with a grim reality.”

Charles took out the beautiful ring from the box, which was like sunshine in the afternoon, it was so bright that it made it hard for her to open her eyes.

What…what had happened?

Bella turned white and could not help but tremble.

“What’s this then?” Charles’s voice was ice-cold. She felt that there was a cold wind that blew around when he spoke, which made her skin sore.

Bella was nervous and gulped. She could not admit. Charles would punish her a lot if she acknowledged that she did it. Many wealthy people had such rings. In the tabloids, she saw that women who married into a wealthy family all had one on their fingers.

“A ring.” Bella decided to take it one step at a time and see how far she could get.

But she had found that her teeth also trembled fearfully.

Bore up! Bella thought to herself.

“Aren’t you familiar with it?” Charles held back his anger and said patiently. He wanted Bella to admit it step by step?

“Yes. Of course, I am familiar with it.” Charles thought she was about to admit it, he did not expect that Bella still justified herself by saying, “This ring is like the one you gave me.”

“Bella!” Charles was thoroughly irritated by her words.

He grabbed her by the neck and lifted her. His face was covered with gloom, “This is a customized ring with your name engraved on it. I know you had sold it the moment you walked out of the jeweller.”

Bella found that it was hard for her to breathe. At that moment, she was unsure whether she felt regretful for having sold the ring or not having noticed that her name was engraved on it before. What she thought of now was how to escape, she felt that she was about to die of suffocation. Charles would never show her mercy.

“Bella, with the truth in the front of you, you still justify yourself.”

Charles increased his strength and threw Bella down. She was tossed out like a lifeless doll and flew through the air before she hit the wall on the opposite side of the room and fell to the ground.

Bella clearly heard the sound she made when she hit the wall.

She was lying on the snowy white carpet huddled in a ball. She wanted to stand up, but every move she made was more painful.

Charles walked toward her and stopped in front of her. He raised her chin with his slender fingers. He looked at the red liquid on one corner of her mouth, his anger grew, and he said, “Don't play dead. Get up!”

Bella gasped and smiled, “I won’t get up. The carpet is soft.”

It would be better to lie there than get up. Bella would be thrown away one more time by Charles if she did.

“You thought that if you sold the ring and got the money; you could use it to pay for your mom’s treatment? Then you would be able to get away from me. Right?”

Bella kept gasping for air. Her back ached a lot. She didn’t know that had broken her bones.

“Yes. I paid for the treatment. Then I do not have to beg you for money. I don’t have to be a slave to you, and I would not have to have a baby for you.” With the situation being like that, she had nothing to be afraid of.

“Have you received the hospital's refund notice just now?” Charles gazed at her with a cold smile, “I have bought MD Anderson Clinic. Your mother's life is now in my hands. Stay with me until you give birth to my child.”

“What a dirty move.” Bella got incredibly angry, and a mouthful of blood spurted out. There was a strange scarlet colour now on the white carpet.

Bella was scared. Did something internal rupture when she hit the wall? What should she do? Would she die? What would happen to her mother if she died? Her mind raced until she passed out.

Charles did not think that it was such a big thing, he just opened Bella’s mouth and fed her a red pill. He patted her back, and she swallowed it. After a while, Bella woke up.

“I have given you the pill Elsa gave me, you won’t die.” Charles looked at her from above. “Get up and go back to work. Finish reciting the secretary's manual and the company's rules and regulations before going off work today. Never let me find out that you have left work while you are supposed to be here.”

Bella knew about Elsa’s medicines. They were amazing. Anyway, it was good that she would not die.

Bella stood up regardless of the pain in her body. She looked at Charles and said, “May I use your restroom?” Charles ignored her. She continued, “If you do not mind that your wife would go back out there like this. Then I am okay with that.”

Charles pointed in the direction of the restroom when Bella was about to leave the office, “Over there.”

“Thank you.” Bella smiled at him. Her eyes were pure and bright as if she did not ache at all.

Charles felt worried again watching her be like that.

Her tears and her smile both made him feel uncomfortable.

This woman was too bothersome.

When Bella came back from the restroom, had a neat and elegant appearance once more.

“Bella!” Charles called her name subconsciously at the sight of her leaving figure.

“My Lord?” Bella turned around and looked at him with a smile, “Any orders?”

“Come here.”

Bella then walked toward him and acted in a submissive manner. Charles knew that this woman was only acting like this.

“Give me your hands.”

Bella was obedient and reached out her hands.

Charles held her ring finger and put the diamond ring back on her hand again.

He threatened her, “I have put the ring on your hand again. You need to wear it for life.” He slowed down and continued, “Unless I ask for it back.”

Her heart ached a lot. Well, she had to accept the ring he gave her whether she was willing to or not. For the things that he did not give her, he must take them away one day no matter if she liked it or not.

Charles was so arrogant and defiant.

But what other choices did she have? He had the capital to be like that. While she was just like a small fish in front of him, and barely had the money to be alive.
