Chapter 69 – A New Job
Charles heard Bella giggle in the room when he passed by, then he drew a halt and closed his eyes instinctively.
A black and white scene appeared in his mind, Bella was jumping up and down on the bed. After letting out some of her energy she calmed down and got off the bed, She chose a suit and a white shirt from the wardrobe.
Charles opened his eyes the moment Bella’s nightdress fell on the floor, and his ears were slightly red as he strode away.
Bella walked into the dining room and found that Charles had finished his breakfast. Her hair was done in a loose bun with a titled fringe and a few strands that cascaded down along her ears, she looked elegant but lovely.
She was wearing business attire.
The black and white scene of her falling down dress played in Charles’s head, again his ears turned red. He got up, tossed the chair aside, and went straight out.
“My Lord, Lady has not had breakfast yet.” Roy reminded him in a hurry.
Charles stopped without turning his body, his sexy voice sounded cold, “Do you think I need to wait for someone being late?”
Roy could not speak but eyed to Bella steadily.
Bella did not know what was happening to Charles, she looked at Roy understandingly, “Mr. Steward, please give me a bag, I can pack the food and eat on the way to work.”
Charles’s voice sounded graceful but unruffled, “No odour is allowed to exist in my company and car.”
Bella replied at once, “No, no need a bag then. I am not hungry.”
In fact, she was hungry.
She always adhered to a healthy eating routine, which was to eat until full in the morning, well in the afternoon, and less in the evening. Her breakfast usually was two times the amount of dinner, unless she was ill.
So, she was very, very hungry.
But, she had to pretend not to be hungry.
Bella strode fast to catch up with Charles and went downstairs.
At the gate, Ziv opened the back door of the Maybach, and bowed his head down respectfully, “My Lord and Lady.”
Bella rushed up to the door on the other side, climbed into the car swiftly. She was doubtful that Charles would have waited for her. He would have ordered it to drive off without her.
The car finally stopped before a new blue building, Bella checked with the road signs and marked the site on her phone, and then she could feel a little at ease if Charles did not wait for her the other days, she could come here on her own.
When they got out of the car, Charles gave an order to Ziv, “Bring her to the secretary department.”
Then, he turned to the gate of the building and went up to the stairs. They were covered with red carpet. His tall figure disappeared quickly in the blue building of Williams Group.
Though the building was named after him, as the King of the Sea, was it necessary to have it the blue of the sea?
Bella puckered her lips, and looked at Ziv with a high expectation, “What does a secretary do?”
“You should take care of the Lord with everything he needs while he is in the company building.” Ziv gave her a broad answer in a respectful manner.
Take care of everything Charles needed?
Was the job of a secretary? Wasn’t it what a maid should do?
Bella lowered her head silently. She knew at last what he meant for she must be 24 hours standby for service, which meant she changed her role from a maid at home to a secretary in the company.
She hoped initially to accumulate some work experience from having a job here so that she could find any other job in the future, but it was apparent she could only collect the working experience as a maid.
Shortly afterwards, she raised her head high vigorously.
Don’t be frustrated. Carry out her plan step by step. The first step was to slip out of the office and sell her ring today. The second step was to think of ways to leave…
Everything should be done carefully. Imprudence was not allowed.
Ziv said politely, “Milady, come with me.”
Bella did not know how she stepped into the Williams Building and how she got into the president‘s office on the top floor.
There was a private office for Charles. His office, which occupied two-thirds of the entire floor, was decorated the same as Williams Mansion, in a simplistic style of white.
It was unstained white.
What a clean evil!
Bella stood in front of the door and hesitated to knock on it.
“Milady, to report to the president on the first day of work is a rule of our group. Don’t be hesitant. The Lord doesn’t like people who are late.” Ziv said beside her.
“But we just came to work together, why should I report to him now?” Bella was speechless for the man inside.
“Business is business, don’t confuse that with the private life. Milady.” Ziv taught her the first lesson of being in the workplace.
Well, business is business.
Bella sighed and knocked on the door obediently.
That gorgeous, deep voice of Charles came through the door, “Come in.”
Bella pushed the door open and went in, and then closed the door behind her.
Charles, always in white clothes: a white shirt and vest. He sat at a white desk and viewed some documents in his hand with his head lowered. His coat was on the hanger, and his white tie was loose.
Bella ridiculed in her head; if his hair were not black, he would have drowned in a sea of white.
She strolled to him, “My Lord.”
The title was particularly useful, as it could be used in any situation and under any circumstance.
When Charles heard her voice, he looked up slowly and gave her a glance.
Knowing what she was doing here, he asked deliberately, “What is the matter?”
Bella bit her lip and said, “Bella Williams, your new secretary in the secretarial pool of the president’s office, reports to you.”
Charles snorted lightly and did not speak.
Bella asked hesitatingly, “Lord, may I ask you a small question?”
“Ask.”
“I wanted to ask, does, does my job here get paid?”
Charles did not answer but watched her with his beautiful eyebrows raised.
Seeing his expression, she said quickly, “It’s my honour to work for the Lord, I wouldn’t ask for a payoff, indeed.” And pointed out, “I am going to work now.”
As soon as she finished, she turned and left without hesitation. She did not want to trigger Charles to be angry, and she must be prudential with her speech and behaviour, or he might kill her in anger. Besides, the most important thing was that her mother’s medical expenses were to be paid by him. She must behave carefully before she sold the ring.
Anyway, it was not long before.
He watched Bella walk away, Charles’s lips curved to a vague smile.
As fearful as Bella was of him, it made him so happy.
He knew well how disobedient she was, with her teeth and claws, but she had to be submissive to him because of her mother’s treatments.
If she did not need the money one day, she could soon change back to who she was before.
Charles lowered his head and kept on working on the documents in his hand. His eyes were cold all of a sudden, even though she would change back to what she was before, he had a thousand ways to make her submissive.
