Chapter 62 – What Horrible Luck
“Len Sanders, if I marry Charles one day, the first thing I will do is to make your life a living hell.” Bella hung up then and trembled in anger.
She and Charles technically got married legally. But she wouldn’t let Len Sanders know that nor let him get the sea route he wanted.
When Bella got back to Williams Mansion, the moment she opened the door she saw that Charles stood on the staircase of the second floor looking at her, which added great pressure. She stood where she was, looked up at him, and said anxiously, “I’m not late.”
Charles did not speak but only stared at her.
Bella felt uncomfortable by his staring and remained motionless at the door.
She stood there as if she was waiting for his next instruction, but she wondered when she was able to move.
After a long while, Charles finally opened his mouth and glanced at her calmly, “Five minutes late.”
Bella replied worriedly, “That is impossible. I was two minutes early.”
She ran all the way here after she got off the bus. She looked at her watch when she got here. She was not late.
Charles looked at the place that Bella stood and continued, “Six minutes late now.”
Bella was puzzled and looked down at her own feet.
What was the problem with her feet?
However, when the voice above her head said, “seven minutes,” she suddenly realized what he meant.
She was not standing inside the door but outside the door!
“Charles, how could you be like that? I’m already here. You can see I’m here. I am not late! How could you be like that?” Bella’s face had reddened with rage, and she began to sputter.
“Like what?” Charles looked at her coldly and smiled a self-satisfied smile.
“You’ve just told me to come back. You never told me that I had to be inside the house.” Bella held back her anger and explained calmly.
“I make the rules.” Charles turned around and did not look at her. His gorgeous voice sounded lethargic, “Punishment for the first day: run around the mansion for 10 kilometres.”
10 kilometres? Why not directly tell her to die?
Bella wanted to throw her bag at him, but he was long gone.
“Please, my Lady.” Roy lowered his head to her at the entrance of the door.
Please? Please run 10 kilometres!
Though she was angry, she had no reason to be mad at him. She put the bag down and went out.
It was better for her to run until she died than be with him!
Bella’s body was healthy. It was not a big problem for her to jog several kilometres.
Charles watched Bella run lap by lap through the French window of the study. She wore a white T-shirt and shorts with her hair tied up high. The sunshine cast upon her, she was much more energetic.
The clothes she wore were hers.
Charles’s expression changed; she dared to refuse to wear the clothes he had prepared for her.
It was indeed annoying.
“Roy!”
“Yes, my Lord.”
Roy walked in at once.
“Tell her if she is unable to finish the 10 kilometres in 40 minutes from now, add another 5 kilometres more.”
“Yes. My Lord.” Roy agreed and left.
Bella cheered up while running. It was just 10 kilometres; he did not say when she should finish. So, she had a lot of time to finish it.
Bella would walk for a while after some running, with the sea wind blowing, she just regarded it as a relaxing task.
“My Lady.” Roy showed up just after she had run three laps.
“What’s the matter?” Bella stopped for rest as she saw him.
Roy said to her mildly with a slight smile on his face, “My Lord said that if you can’t finish the rest in 40 minutes, you need to run another 5 kilometres.”
Bella was speechless.
He wanted to run her to death.
Bella clenched her fists and trembled out of anger. She was upset, “I am not an athlete. How could I make it in 40 minutes?”
Roy paused for a while. Seeing the grievances that showed on her face, he was somewhat sympathetic. But afterwards, he said softly, “It is the command of the Lord. You’d better obey it and do not oppose him.”
“When do I oppose him? He always picked on me for whatever I do.” Bella thought that she was so careful now, but Charles still did not leave her be.
“My Lady,” Roy looked at her and reminded, “It’s already been two minutes.”
“Thanks for reminding me,” Bella ran away and kept running. She no longer dared to run as slow as before.
She swore at Charles while she ran. Her stomach ached.
Maybe it was because she had run too fast and got cramps.
Charles smiled when he saw that she was running with her hands placed on her stomach and seemed exhausted.
That was the way a punishment should be.
She was so bold and met the man when she had just left!
Bella did not know how long she had run. She just felt that her body got heavier and heavier. She had to gather up all her strength every move she made.
Her face turned white as she ran, and everything became unclear in front of her.
Charles was the devil!
Bella cursed Charles before she fainted.
Charles looked from above at the place where Bella would pass by. Bella spent five minutes more in this lap than that of the previous lap.
“My Lord.” Roy appeared in the entrance, “My Lady has passed out.”
She had passed out?
Charles furrowed his eyebrows and appeared in front of Bella instantaneously.
She indeed had passed out.
“My Lord.” Elsa changed the clothes Bella wore and looked at Charles. She sighed, “It is bad for her to do such strenuous exercise on her period.”
Charles snorted and did not speak. He did not know that of course.
She saw that Charles did not care about that at all. Elsa said softly, “Maybe you do not love her. But my Lord, you need to think more about your offspring.”
Nobody noticed Bella’s pale face become whiter.
Bella opened her eyes when everyone left. She stared at the ceiling with tears in her eyes.
He did not love her.
It turned out that she felt hurt upon hearing that.
However, didn’t she know that the whole time?
The reality did not allow her to grieve for a long time. The vibration of the phone made her come out of the emotional world of nothingness.
Her bag was on the sofa in the doorway. She got up and fetched the phone.
A smile appeared on her face at the sight of the number, it was her mother.
“Mum,” she answered the phone in a sweet voice.
But an anxious voice sounded on the other side of the phone, “Are you the daughter of Bess Brook? You mother is injured. She is in the hospital.”
She and Charles technically got married legally. But she wouldn’t let Len Sanders know that nor let him get the sea route he wanted.
