Chapter 59 – A Secret Discovery
Charles was leaving the room as Roy bowed behind him, “My lord, after working things out tonight, the Williams Building could be put into use.”
“Notify all the people who are in charge of the different industries of Williams Group. The annual meeting will be held in Vancouver this year. At the same time, accelerate the construction of the Biological Research Center.” Charles stood as he gave his orders.
“Yes, my lord.”
The next morning, Bella woke up energetically as if she had never gotten a fever. She got out of the bed and stretched.
Suddenly a picture flashed in her brain. Edwin picked her up her last night.
Then he had seen how she was after what Charles had done to her.
She was mortified.
Bella covered her face with her hands.
She had sex with Charles last night in the car. Could she regard that as a deal? Then she could go home today?
Bella paced back and forth in the room.
She would have a free day every time they had sex. But last night Charles took her away from Edwin. Then was it not a deal? Or did he just not allow her to be around other men in her spare time.
If it had been a deal, then it would be awkward to stay here. If it had not been a deal, the consequences would be profoundly serious.
Why was it so difficult to get along with him?
Forget about it! It was better to ask him directly.
She did not know what dignity was when she faced him.
Charles had already left when Bella went to the dining room to have breakfast. Roy looked at her respectfully, “Lady, Lord asked you to come to the study after breakfast.”
“Okay.” Bella agreed.
Charles was busy typing on his computer when Bella knocked at the door and walked in. The sound of the keyboard spread around the quiet room.
Bella quietly stood by and remained silent until he had finished his work.
No matter how much she hated Charles, she needed to be courteous and polite.
Charles raised his head and looked at her coldly. He still remembered that she told him that she hated him yesterday. Now she behaved so politely and lovely.
What a facade?
“Come here,” Charles said with a commanding tone that she could not resist.
Bella walked toward him as he told. She just wanted to live a pleasant, quiet life, if only Charles would not provoke her.
Charles hooked the shoulder strap of her suspender skirt with his slender fingers. Bella understood his intentions and squatted down for him to bite her shoulder effortlessly.
She wanted to go home to see her mother. So, she’d better behave herself.
Charles was pleased with her obedience. He reached out his tongue, sucked on her shoulder, and then suddenly bit it. A sense of pain flashed through her eyes.
He grabbed a tissue on the desk and lightly wiped his mouth. He looked at Bella and said, “Don’t be curious about the reason I drink your blood.”
Bella shook her head, “I’m not curious.”
Charles stared at her coldly. She was acting better and better.
“Don’t be curious about the reason I want you to give birth to a baby for me.”
Bella paused for a moment and shook her head firmly, “I am no longer curious.”
She did not want to have any unexpected things happen to stop her from going home.
She missed her mother very much especially when she was sick. Last night, she was so homesick.
“Bella, I hope you can be as well-behaved as you are today for the remaining days.”
Bella looked at him and summoned up the courage to ask him, “Can I go home today?”
A faint coldness flashed through Charles’s eyes, “Did you think that was a deal last night?”
If not, then it must have been a punishment.
Bella lowered her head and spoke to him, “I see what you mean.”
Charles looked at Bella’s sad expression and said distantly, “So? Are you in such a hurry to see Edwin Beck?”
“What are you talking about? I miss home; I want to see my mum.” Bella refuted subconsciously, but when she found that she got angry again she softened her voice, “Nothing has happened between Edwin and me. Do not misjudge me.”
It was ridiculous to be misconstrued with such a groundless reason.
Bella felt that she needed to look at the relationship with Charles rationally. She should try not to anger him because he was still in control of her.
But, he always angered her.
She did not want to be with him, but he did not want to let go of her.
Chares looked at her sharply, “Really? He had told me that he would take you back. Now explain to me what the meaning of “back” is.”
What was the meaning of “back”?
Bella was about to go crazy for this baffling conviction.
Bella widened her eyes and was left speechless. “I do not know why he said that to you. As you know, I had only been in a relationship with Martin Smith. Edwin Beck is a friend I just met. He had only given me a book. Do not accuse me of anything.”
Charles was surprised, “A book?”
Bella lowed her head and replied, “Yes. I went to a bookstore to buy books. He was the boss and gave me one.”
“What book was it?”
“The Little Prince.”
“Okay.” Charles raised his voice and called, “Roy!”
“Yes, my Lord.” Roy pushed the door open at once and replied respectfully.
“Go search for the book ‘The Little Prince’ and bring it to me immediately.”
Roy was effective and found the book quickly.
Bella watched him look through the book and said, “It is a book and not expensive, so I accepted it.”
Charles glanced at her distantly, “A book could make you grateful enough to regard him as your friend?” Disdain flashed through his eyes, “Sure enough, it seems that girls must be raised up in a rich family. Or else they would turn out like you and will beg and be cheated by others with little benefit.”
Bella clenched her fists, and a stubbornness came into her eyes, “It is true! I am from a poor family. However, I also have received better gifts. I’m not the kind of person you spoke of just now.”
But Bella thought he was right. He mistreated her, but every time he helped it always touched her heart.
She admitted that she had lost her mind. But she was not that kind of woman.
Charles raised his head and noticed the tears in her eyes. But he did not care, this woman always showed her weakness and made others sympathetic toward her.
But soon he was drawn to a page in the book.
Bella suddenly remembered something and rushed to seize the book, “Give that to me.”
