Chapter 57 – A Fever
Human trafficker?
Edwin Beck restrained his anger and forced a smile. He had never seen a person who shamelessly called white, black before and told a barefaced lie like that.
“Your lady? Didn’t you know that she had fainted on the road?” Edwin looked at him coldly, “That’s the way you treat your lady?”
Charles Williams ignored him and walked directly toward Bella. He picked her up from the sofa. When he passed Edwin, he said indifferently, “She is mine. The way I treat her has nothing to do with you. From now on, stay away from her.”
Edwin smiled scornfully, “It turns out that this, is the magnificence of the Lord. But it doesn’t work on me.” He looked at Bella’s small face that was flushed due to the fever, and gave Charles a challenging look, “I will be there by her side no matter what.”
Suddenly, a fierce wind sprang up indoors, and it rained heavily outside.
Charles suddenly turned back. There seemed to be tumultuous waves in his blue eyes that raised a thousand ripples. He smiled a treacherous smile and said, “Good, ruining this confidence of yours will definitely bring me a sense of accomplishment.”
Edwin raised his head and looked at him, “Well, I will wait for that then.” He refused as he looked at Bella again, “I will take her with me in the end.”
Charles snorted.
The windows blew open and closed, the wind was fierce, and suddenly the glass shattered into pieces.
Edwin looked at the open door. Charles had already left with Bella. He sighed in relief and fell into the sofa with praise flashing through his eyes.
That was the legendary Lord Williams. He really deserved the reputation he enjoyed. If it wasn’t for the specialized training Edwin had received, he would have been overwhelmed by his pressing momentum.
Edwin did not go to close the door but made a phone call instead. When it went through, he spoke banteringly, “Your brother has already regarded me as an opponent. When will you show up?”
The man on the other said replied in a wicked tone, “When you are unable to deal with him, of course, I will show up and help you.”
Edwin hung up the phone with a faint smile.
Quentin ran into the room with a bag of medicine in hand. He put away the umbrella and closed the door. “Young Master, it is raining heavily, why didn’t you close the door?”
“Here is the medicine.” Quentin walked toward Edwin and handed him the bag, “This is febrifuge...”
“Don’t bother. Bella has gone.” Edwin stood up and interrupted him. “Go rest.”
Quentin opened his mouth but said nothing.
Edwin asked him concerned, “How’s grandpa?”
“Not so good. But your grandfather has been brought back home.” Concern showed in Quentin’s eyes.
“What does he command?”
“He just said if we met Miss Bella, we should treat her good. He has further plans.” Quentin’s head was still lowered.
Edwin sighed, “Go check to see if Charles and Bella got married.”
Quentin replied, “Grandpa has also commanded that.”
This time they had the same thought.
When Charles took Bella home, he did not turn on the heat. He just wrapped her with a quilt and did not change her clothes. Her clothes were still wet. Then as they drove, Charles opened the window of the car. She was sleepy and just wanted to sleep. However, she could not help but sneeze out of coldness. So, she just sat there.
The windows were open on the way to Williams Mansion, and Charles was silent the whole time.
When they got back, Charles threw Bella directly on the carpet of the living room. She hit the ground, and her head felt groggy.
Bella tried awfully hard to stand up, “What do you want?”
She was in such an embarrassing situation. With her body all damp and the hair messy and dirty, Charles still did not let go of her.
Charles smiled coldly, “What do I want? You stayed in the same room with the other man. Tell me, what should I do?”
Bella held back her anger for she would have screamed at him and said with a hoarse feverish tone, “You forced me into that situation. You left me alone in the rain, and I fainted. Edwin rescued me. You should blame yourself for that.”,
“Why didn’t you refuse him? Why didn’t you go home the moment you woke up?”
Bella replied without thinking, “How could I go home like that? My mum would be worried about me.”
So, she did not think Williams Mansion was her home.
This kind of cognition made Charles much gloomier.
“Good job. Bella.” Charles’s expression changed at once. “Send her to the White Dolphin Residence.”
Roy walked in. But he walked out awkwardly when he saw Bella.
Bella suddenly realized that she was so angry she had forgotten to cover her breasts. She looked down and saw she was still black and blue. The bruises were evident on her chest. Her lips shivered involuntarily.
He did not love her. So, he could treat her whatever way he liked.
Bella gritted her teeth, took off his jacket and tossed it.
She was too weak to throw it far. The coat quickly fell onto the ground only a foot away from her.
Charles stood there with an inexplicable expression. Bella saw it as he just regarded her as a joke.
So ridiculous.
Bella quickly picked up the T-shirt and pants that laid on the bed and staggered into the bathroom.
The White Dolphin Residence? Okay, just being the plaything of the whales and dolphins, why should she be afraid?
Charles suddenly caught her by the arm and threw her against the wall eagerly. He lowered his head and kissed her firmly on the lips.
Was he punishing her, or was he just venting his anger?
He kissed hard and took the oxygen in her mouth away.
Bella’s eyes widened.
What did he plan to do?
Of course, she did not know what he would do, because she passed out quickly.
Elsa looked at Bella who had been laid on the bed after being washed. She then looked at Charles and motioned to him that she was going to inspect Bella.
“Why did you not give the medicine I gave you for our Lady on time?” Elsa stared at Roy with blame. She could not blame Charles for that.
Roy smiled awkwardly and apologized, “Sorry, I must have forgotten.”
He did not even dare to utter a word when the Lord was in that furious state, let alone hand him the medicine.
“Brat,” Elsa opened her hand and said, “Give me the medicine.”
Roy quickly gave the medicine back. He returned to the door and waited for Charles’s further orders.
“Although colds and fevers are no big thing. They could still bring damage to her body.” Elsa spoke to herself. She then fed Bella the medicine and gave her an injection to bring down her temperature. After that, she went away.
Charles heard what Elsa said clearly.
The door opened. Charles felt worried when he saw that Bella curled up in a ball.
Why did he have this feeling? Did he regret punishing her? No. He would not feel regretful for anything he had done.
He turned around and walked out of the door. But he suddenly heard a moan.
Charles turned around again and saw that Bella had pulled off the covers. She shook her head as if she was getting rid of something in it. Her face was an unusual shade of red.
Edwin Beck restrained his anger and forced a smile. He had never seen a person who shamelessly called white, black before and told a barefaced lie like that.
