Chapter 51 – Phantom Pains

A glimmer of light flashed through Edwin Beck’s eyes, and he asked, “Aww, are you worried about me? You care!?”

Bella chuckled, “Of course. You gave me the Little Prince, so now you are my friend.”

Edwin smiled and said, “Yes, Of course. we are friends.”

That was enough for Edwin to be Bella’s friend.

Charles stood in the distance and stared coldly in the direction that Bella was. He was waiting for Bella to walk to him on her own accord.

In fact, Bella did not think that she needed to even be at the auction. A lot of unconcerned people like her attended the gala as a companion.

She genuinely believed that Edwin came here with his friend, so she was glad that she could meet an acquaintance in such a place and didn’t need to wait around bored.

When Charles saw that Bella was happily talking with Edwin, an undercurrent of blue light appeared in his eyes and the air filled with a chill and dismay which had derived from deep below the sea, more than 10,000 meters below.

Ziv said again, “I am going to ask the Madam to come.”

Charles did not refute this time, and he thought that Bella was so brazen that she dared to cuckold him in public.

Bella pointed to the auction area and asked, “Did you want to go watch the auction?”

Edwin looked at her and asked back, “What about you? Did you want to go watch it?”

Bella unnaturally fiddled with the food on her plate and then chuckled with her head slightly raised, “I am a companion, so I don’t need to watch it.”

Edwin looked down and revealed a smile like a kindred spirit, “I am only a companion too tonight.”

But he came to accompany Bella.

“Just...” Bella had not finished talking as Ziv came over and interrupted her, “Madam, the Lord asks you to go to him.”

His voice was very stable and robust.

Edwin must have heard what he said, anyone could have heard it as long as they weren’t deaf.

And Edwin definitely was not deaf.

At that moment, Bella’s heart rate increased, and she became incredibly awkward.

She hastily waved her hands, pointed elsewhere and said, “I will go first.”

“Okay!” Edwin smiled softly and nodded gently to her.

The moment she turned around and walked away from Edwin, Bella’s body became warm and her eyes and nose contracted. She felt as if she was stripped of her clothes in public, she was humiliated.

If she really got married, she would have told everyone truthfully even if she was not happy. But she carried the label of “married,” and she was the “Madam” of Williams Mansion now, she was actually controlled by Charles and had no power. Could she tell others about her marriage?

She didn’t want to lie to anyone, but she thought that Edwin would despise her if he knew. Although he tried to hold a gentle smile, his eyes showed astonishment and unhappiness when he heard Ziv call her “Madam.”

Bella didn’t know who she was anymore.

“Go and clean yourself up!” Charles glanced at her and blankly said.

Bella followed his gaze, only to find that she still held the earlier desserts in her hand. Her face started to burn. Then she obediently put them down and went to the bathroom.

Confused by Ziv calling her “Madam,” she didn’t watch her path, and as she approached the washroom she had ran face first into a woman who had walked out of the door.

She was about to apologize, when the woman screamed loudly, “Are you blind?”

After that, the woman violently shoved her.

Bella tottered, so she steadied herself with the wall. When she looked up, her expression changed from guilt to annoyance. And she sneered. That woman happened to be Lynn.

Lynn was rude, impolite, and coarse. She gave a differential treatment to Bella from her fans. She no longer had blandness, loveliness, innocence, or kindness.

She thought, Lynn was showing signs of Bipolar disorder and should see a doctor!

Already she had experienced many dreadful things tonight, so she didn’t want to talk with Lynn anymore. If she went back late, she was afraid that Charles would be angry again. According to his look, he seemed to already be mad.

Bella didn’t want to quibble with Lynn, but she did not want to give up either. Just like the man who defended Bella that wore a mask, but he emanated a noble elegance.

Lynn didn’t understand why Charles took a fancy to Bella and why the mysterious man wearing a mask defended her.

Lynn thought she was superior to Bella regarding appearance and family background, but both Charles and the mysterious man didn’t take her seriously.

When Lynn saw Bella go into the washroom to wash her hands, hate flashed through her eyes, and she revealed a vicious smile.

Lynn quickly walked back into the bathroom with her hands pressing her stomach and Bella had just turned around. Lynn violently struck Bella’s abdomen. She tottered at that moment, and both hands subconsciously grabbed the washstand behind her.

To match this dress tonight, the stylist gave Bella a small chain bag.

Lynn bent over as she held Bella’s bag out of sight to slide something into it.

She smirked and shouted with one hand pressing her stomach and one finger of the other hand pointing at Bella, “You hit me deliberately when you saw I had stomach pain.”

Ziv stood in the distance, and he saw the whole thing. He immediately sent a message to Charles and received a reply soon after, “Do unto her as she does unto Bella.”

When Bella saw that Lynn ran fast into the bathroom, she was very irritated that Lynn still accused her.

After coming back to the main venue, Bella looked around subconsciously, and she silently sighed with mixed feelings in her heart when she did not see Edwin.

Under the guidance of Ziv, she sat next to Charles, he had sat in the middle of the first row, but no one envied her because they thought that she was a temporary plaything of Charles.

Charles gave her a glimpse, and she had a hard time understanding what that meant. Although he saw her with just one glance, she was perturbed and didn’t know why he was angry with her.

She silently sat up straight and dared not say a word.

A jade piece of from the Western Zhou dynasty was one of the pieces of jewelry auctioned in the last half. Charles raised a card and showed his desire for it.

He closed the deal with sixty million dollars, and it was the most significant donation that night.

Everyone applauded him, but Charles arrogantly stood up and turned around to go outside.

The auction was over, and the crowd wormed their way to the door.

Suddenly, a sharp female voice caught everyone’s attention, and Bella looked where it came from.

She saw Molly scolding Lynn, “What did you say? My necklace is gone? It was lent by the sponsor, and I must return it. I trusted you, but you lost it! Can you pay more than ten million for it?” And she screamed.
