Chapter 28 – A Cold Escape

Getting out of the shower, Bella changed her clothes and left Williams Mansion.

In fact, she was exhausted and wanted to sleep. But now she had made another deal and did not want to face staying here.

Fortunately, she had her mum and Dora.

After taking nearly two hours of a bus ride home, Bella was so tired that she lost the colour in her face.

She opened the door and saw Bess’s worried face, Bella swayed her hand tiredly and said quietly, “Mum, I worked overtime and am a little tired. So, I want to nap for a bit. Please wake me up in a while.” And then she added, “Please remember to drink yesterday’s soup.”

Without waiting for Bess to speak, Bella rushed into her own room, closed the door and locked herself in.

Her body was black and blue from Charles, and if it were seen by her mother when she fell asleep, it would only make her mother more worried.

Charles only said they had a deal, but he did not tell her when to go back.

Bella fell into a deep sleep, but she vaguely heard several times the phone ring and some taps on the door.

In her sleep, she seemed to reach her hand out to pick up the phone and said something, but then she fell asleep again.

So tired!

Every cell from her brain to her body was as heavy as lead.

When she woke up, it was already dark. Although she was still a little bit tired, her spirit was much better.

Bella stretched and was suddenly startled. As she slept, she received a call from Dora to ask the address of her boss. She sat up quickly and thought back to what she talked about.

Bella was flustered to find her phone and found that there were actually 18 missed calls. One was from Dora, and the other 17 was a stranger number.

Ignoring the strange number, Bella directly clicked the call log. Then, she sat down weak and limp. Sure enough, there was a four-second call record of talking to Dora.

What did she just say to Dora?

Bella clutched her own hair tightly and was annoyed that she forgot Dora was going to send drugs to her.

How could she have forgotten such an important thing?

What to do?

She expected that Dora didn’t send it to Williams Mansion.

Her mother also seemed to knock at the door when she was sleeping so the drugs might have been sent here.

Bella got up swiftly and saw her mother sitting on the sofa in the living room and watching TV. Bess saw her come into the living room slightly panicked as Bella promptly asked, “Mum, did Dora come here?”

She looked at Bella and shook her head in confusion. “No! Whats wrong? Has she said that she would come today?”

“No, no!” said Bella. Her body was suddenly weak, and she almost toppled over. She totteringly supported herself with the back of the chair, and she asked, “When I was sleeping, I seemed to hear you knock at the door.”

Bess was worried about Bella, she looked stressed, but she relaxed after she heard her daughters question. She answered her, “Your cell phone was constantly ringing while you were sleeping. I was afraid something had happened to you, so I knocked on the door. Later I was relieved when I heard you answer it.”

Bess thought maybe Len had already told Bella about her birth.

“All right!” said Bella. Then she stiffly smiled, took some large steps back to the bedroom and closed the door.

She sat cross-legged on the bed and took out her phone, she looked at the missed calls from the same unknown number and a sense of familiarity emerged in her heart.

Suddenly, a name flashed through her mind—

Charles!

Charles had called her the other day, but she did not save it. Bella quickly checked the call history and found the number that she knew was for sure his.

The phone rang.

Her heart pounded, and then it rang again.

The call was from Charles Williams.

Bella quickly threw the phone on the bed, rolled the quilt on top of it and pretended she hadn’t noticed.

Fortunately, the phone stopped ringing.

Her hands trembled as she picked it up to make a call. She was afraid Charles would call again before she could talk to Dora.

As soon as the phone connected, she heard Dora’s excited voice, “Wow! Bella, your boss, turned out to be the King of The Sea! Charles Williams! Dear me, he is so handsome! I didn’t expect that the legendary King of The Sea would be so handsome and amiable...”

Having listened to Dora’s remarks, Bella was relieved. The amiable and approachable guy definitely was not Charles. He was complacent and looked at people with a haughty glance. How could these words be related to him?

Maybe he was the butler, Roy?

The next second, she became anxious once more, because Roy would definitely hand over the birth control and vitamins to Charles.

Bella continued, “Wait! Dora, you must tell me what did you say when you gave it to him?”

“Bella got me to buy these to help her out, here’s the invoice.” said Dora,“I thought you had a small-business boss, but obviously not. Damn! I heard that the King of The Sea was just passing through, and not staying for long. You have to take the opportunity to pursue him! You could have his child accidentally, and then you could gain wealth and honour through your children!”

Ah, he just wanted her to give birth to a baby for him and nothing more.

Bella felt a faint pain in her temples, so she said a few more words with Dora perfunctory. After she hung up the phone, she sat there thinking, and she figured that the best way was to run.

The thought that she could take her mother away and find a place where Charles couldn’t find them crossed her mind.

When she thought of the way Charles’s ruthlessly of watched the way the dolphins treated her like a ball, the brutality of throwing her into the sea and the cruelty of tossing her against the wall... her body shook involuntarily from the fear brewing in her subconscious.

Bella rushed to the living room and said to Bess, “Mum, let’s move! How about we move to Alberta?”

“Why?” asked Bess with a look of confusion on her face. “You haven’t graduated from University yet, and Dora is here. Why do you want to move?”

Bella smiled stiffly and said, “Recently Len had been causing you a lot of trouble recently, so I think it would be better for us to move. Out of the province and start new. OK? In the light of the school’s reputation and my grades, I can transfer to a Tech Institute. Maybe to a school that offers scholarships. Okay?”

“But...” As soon as Bess was about to speak, she heard a knock at the door.

“Who is it?” asked Bess. Then she looked at Bella and said softly, “Wait a minute! Maybe the neighbours need help.”

Mourning appeared in Bella’s heart.

As soon as Bess opened the door, the brisk salty wind poured in.

Why was there a smell of the sea?

“Where do you want to move?” A thick, throbbing, sexy voice was carried by the wind to the ears of Bella. She could feel herself throb in return.

Bella answered subconsciously, “As long as I am not here, anywhere is ok for me.”

Before she could finish what she was saying, she turned around quickly and stared at the tall, white shadow. Her blood hardened in an instant and her body temperature dropped to below freezing.
