38 Why he can't afford to be greedy

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Yeri leaned on the railings, appreciating the city view.

"hmm, very beautiful." Shin's eyes gleamed with dominance admiring her beautiful side view, to him, she's more dazzling than the diamond bracelet on her wrist or any jewel that exists.

"Our garden wasn't this huge before...Daddy bought our neighbour's property as a gift to Mom since she loves gardening. When I was a kid, there used to be a treehouse on that side for us to play and then in the afternoon, Mom would call for teatime in her greenhouse." Yeri reminisced.

"That sounds fun, can you tell me more about your family?" Shin asked.

"Well..." Yeri propped her chin in her hand, "my grandparents used to tell me a joke that the Zhi clan is curse since there are hardly any men in the family. We are largely composed of women and there are only one or two men or sometimes none at all for generations. It was the same case with my grandfather and father's generation."

"Is that why they adopted your Uncle?" Shin queried.

"You know about it?" Yeri looked surprised but it's not like it was a secret, she took a deep breath and her mood subtly turned sour.

"My grandparents are probably regretting it now, that man, Nolan Zhi, is a scumbag snake! Auntie couldn't give him a son and so he cheated behind her back and has two illegitimate children, you already met one of them, Venice Zhi." Yeri narrated mockingly.

Shin already investigated the Zhi genealogy and know that Nolan Zhi is trying to take over the Zhi Corporation, he has three daughters from his legal wife and an illegitimate son and a daughter with different mothers.

"So I suggest that Brother Shin should be careful hanging around me, even that scumbag snake got affected by the Zhi family curse despite having no blood relation." Yeri jested, playfully poking his chest.

"I do not believe in something that I don't experience myself, even if that's the case, having kids with you is not a curse but a blessing." Shin caught her hand and kiss it.

He intentionally asked about her family but as expected she avoided talking about her brother, even Klaus Zhi who opened about the Zhi Corporation's dire situation didn't touch on his son's topic.

But Shin is in no hurry, trust is not something one can gain after a few meetings, just like how he can't enforce his feelings to her at once.

Yeri lightly laughed thinking Shin was just joking, her soft and alluring voice chimed like a melody carried by the wind.

Shin heartily smiled, this is the reason why he can't afford to be greedy.

It is easy to monopolize her and hide her from the world but he will lose that unrestrained and blinding radiance from her.

"Carpet! Carpet!"

A shaky, raspy shout echoed and Carpet happily answered, barking.

"That's Nanny Pham!"

Yeri panicked, she wanted to grab Shin to hide but with Carpet around, they'll get busted.

"You should head back now, it's getting late anyway." Shin calmly patted her head.

"T-then, I'll go...see you, bye-bye!" Yeri hurriedly left to the other side.

Shin looked at the jolly dog and notice a phone on the table.

"Young Master Keir?!" Nanny Pham exclaimed, startled.

"Good evening, the city view here is amazing." Shin greeted and put the phone in his pocket, his heart pounded in excitement, he never thought being in a secret relationship can be exhilarating.

"Y-yes good evening! I apologise for disturbing you, Young Master Keir. This dog is spoiled and is like the 4th child of this family, the Madam always look for it around this hour before she sleeps." Nanny Pham looked flustered.

4th? Shin got confused for a second, he then remembered that Jj Zhi was taken in from the family's side branch and also grew up in that house, probably to fill in the lack of men in the main branch.

"No worries, I'm on my way back as well." Shin simply said.

Nanny Pham watch Shin Keir's receding back, she had heard a lot of horrifying stories about this man but aside from that imposing and intimidating air on him, he isn't as scary as exaggerated in some cases.

Shin immediately close his eyes upon getting inside the car while Secretary Yun looked extremely exhausted himself.

He blabbered whatever came into his mind just to distract and prevent Madam Zhi from looking for her daughter and that Venice Zhi from troubling his Boss.

"By the way Boss, third Young Master Jie made an appointment to meet you this weekend regarding his close bar."

"Deal with it."

"How about Elder Keir? he's been insisting for you to go back to the main house." Secretary Yun nervously asked he had a hunch it has something to do with a woman.

If words get out that his Boss is dating, the Keir family will definitely get involved and push for a political marriage, not to mention the women who will compete for his Boss's attention.

"Ignore it," Shin blankly stare out of the window.

He has other pressing matters to deal with, for Gehenna to be exact.

["I know that your business proposal is sincere but I would feel like I'm selling my own daughter if you interfere with our personal problem with Vulture. I appreciate your concern but I will handle this myself."]

Shin recalled Master Zhi's stubborn refusal, did he think dealing with a criminal organisation can be resolve by talking?

This isn't about pride and gaining gratitude, his woman won't be safe even abroad.

["If you still like my daughter after 10 years, then I'll allow you to court her once she's back."]

Shin pinched the bridge of his nose, it's never his style to have the patience convincing an upright and obstinate old man but he reminded himself over and over again of his goal.
