34 The Flower Festival 2
"Young lady, we are here." Jing Chu said as she saw Jiao Yu just sipping tea.
Honestly, Jiao Yu did not know where they were going and what they were doing out but for the sake of getting things done, Jiao Yu could just go out of her courtyard reluctantly.
Jiao Yu lifted the curtain to look outside and saw that the streets were full and packed with people mixed up; from commoners, scholars, wealthy people, officials and even some people she could recognize was walking around to buy and watch the flowers falling from the trees.
"Young lady?"
Jiao Yu lowered the curtain and said, "Let's go."
After getting out of the carriage, Jiao Yu and her entourage walked towards the entrance of a jewelry store. After visiting three or four other stores, Jiao Yu and her entourage decided to go to a restaurant to rest.
At the restaurant, the bustles and noises from the streets and merchants busily selling off their products could be heard from the open and simple restaurant. The clattering of plates and people talking was another burst of bother towards Jiao Yu's complicated life. 'Ah... indeed such a bother'. Jiao Yu thought.
Jing Chu saw the helplessness in her young miss' face, "Young lady, I'll go and call a waiter to take our order."
Jing Chu stood up and went to grab a waiter. Such unladylike manners did not matter to Jiao Yu as she had done more unladylike things before and since it did not matter to her, Jing Chu also did not bother keeping up the ladylike manner to appease to people's eye.
While just waiting for Jing Chu to come with their order, Jiao Yu decided to observe the restaurant. Though it was a huge restaurant and popular for its dishes, the interior of the restaurant was indeed eye catching to their target market, the mass. It did not look too overwhelmingly simple but pleasing to the eyes as if once entered, she can feel the calmness of the place even with the noises from outside.
Since earlier, people had been turning and pausing to look at Jiao Yu and after getting a look, instead Jiao Yu should be the one getting embarrassed, the people who was staring too much at her got shy and blushed. However, Jiao Yu did not bother with their stares and only looked indifferently at them, making them fall even deeper with her cold treatment, just like an Ice or a statue.
In front of them, people were happily watching the play that was happening in front of them. Clapping along with the performers and listening obediently to the songs that was sung by the female performers.
The scene that played out in front was so beautiful and colorful and perfect for the occasion, the Flower Festival, making people so enthralled in watching it while some were busily going fro and to around the restaurant.
Seeing that Jing Chu was taking longer to get their order, Jiao Yu turned to Bai Chen, "Go and take a look at Jing Chu."
Bai Chen was also watching the play and often times, she would feel her heart get excited that she almost did not catch her young miss' words. Thankfully, she was not that absorbed at the play and was still able to hear her young miss' words.
After Bai Chen left, Jiao Yu sat idly at her own chair alone without the two maids. Seeing that she was alone and no one was restricting her to move, Jiao Yu headed to a corner of the restaurant where a straw screen was hanging before a gaping wall.
At the end of the corridor, two playful children came running in full swing. Giving a slight surprise to
Jiao Yu, who was curious on what's this place for. The children were wearing a blue and white silk brocade, smiling brightly as they ran. And as the two children was running, they were too occupied with running that they did not stop and even intended to push her out of their way, making Jiao Yu step onto her dress and fall over.
The two children shouted their apology and ran but they still did not stop to help her stand up. Jiao Yu felt annoyed at what just happened and looked irritated at the fading little figures of the children. After seeing their figures disappear to the straw screens, Jiao Yu wanted to stand up and not let anyone see her in that state. However, just as she moved to stand up, a hand suddenly reached out to offer help and before Jiao Yu could have any protest, the hand had already grabbed her uprightly.
Jiao Yu felt embarrassed at finding out that someone had seen her in that state and to cover up her embarrassment, she decided to thank the person first as she bowed slightly, "Thank you for helping me."
Jiao Yu did not bother looking up and only waited for that person to acknowledge her gratitude but the person did not say any reply, making her raise her head to see the person's appearance.
Two black obsidian eyes doused with a roguish glint looked back at her, "Not so dignified and vicious as that night, are we?"
Jiao Yu's eyes widens at the person in front of her, "You!"
