20 As if chased by a Ghos

Dull sounds awaken the person who was sound asleep. Hui Shi opened her eyes. The entire night, she could not close her eyes and sleep well as there were too many nightmare that visited her dreams. When she woke up, her forehead was filled with sweat and her eyes had faint dark circles under it..

"Furen is awake."Gong Li went beside her.

After Hui Shi washed up, she took a look outside by the window. The birds were cheerfully singing away and the sun was brighter than yesterday.

She smiled, "Get a brighter clothes for me to wear today. And also take out that silver flower ring with inlaid crushed turquoise."

Currently, Hui Shi was not the type to wear birght colored clothes and because she's past the age to wear bright colored dresses, this was a rare sight to see. Gong Li smiled, "Furen's mood is indeed good and to wear such a bright colour, furen's spirits will be much higher."

Hui was indeed in a good mood as she had a good show to watch later.

When everything was ready, she said, "Let us go. It is time to pay a visit to my niece out to eat."

The Western courtyard was the farthest courtyard from the secon household and it was a wonder why people from the second would go so far as to visit the western courtyard. When Hui Shis aw it, her gaze was filled with satisfaction. It was assumed that Mui Gu handled things very well that the maids were sent away.

Hui Shi was not afraid that someone would know the truth later if the little maid would speak once the crime is out, however, who would believe the words of a servant against the lady furen of the second household, Jiao Yu's aunt.

They arrived at the courtyard without the servants stopping them and halted only when they were at front of the door.

"Go and knock the door." She said to Gong LI and a glimpse of distate flashed across her eyes.

She had been glad to know before that Jiao Yu's face was disfigured and low-key spreading rumors about it. But because of the recent revelation of Jiao Yu's face, she was made into a laughing stock by the furen of other household in the Jing Capital and she didn't bother making the rumors real, hence, Mui Gu's doing.

"Fourth Young Lady," Gong Li walked to the door and knocked, loud enough to hear from the other side, "Second Furen is here."

No activity was heard and as if the one inside is not there at all.

"Fourth Young Lady, Second Furen is here." Gong Li continued saying.

But after knocking for several times, they did not hear anyone answering.

Hui Shi sighed and gently smiled, "The skies are already bright but Fourth Niece is still lazing around. We should wake her up early since it is good for her weak body."

She then walked to the front of the door and gently knocked before softly speaking, "Fourth niece, it is time to wake up and have a breakfast, the sun has already gone up and you should not stay any longer in your room."

Again, no one answered from the other side.

Hui Shi turned around to look at her entourage and looked somewhat helpless. She did not know how to explain to herself or others and softly said, "Forget it. Just directly push the door open and enter. Fourth niece's maid are not here and deliberately did things as they want, I should tell old matriarch about this when we get back." After she spoke, Hui Shi was about to open the door.

"Second Aunt." A voice sounded in the silence. Hui Shi was surprised and thought that the voice came from the inside of the room but heard Gong Li speaking behind her, "F..Fourth Young Lady"

She then whirled around in surprise, and saw Jiao Yu standing with her entourage.

Today Jiao Yu wore a purple dress and with her snow white complexion combined with the color of her dress, it made her skin even more whiter. Her hair was half let down and the half was tied into a mermaid braid with a hairpin and ornament on.

Hui Shi looked at Jiao Yu's clothes and was slightly blinded by it, the dress was exquisite and with one look, one can tell that it was made with expensive silk, then she suddenly remembered something before scrutinizing Jiao Yu.

She was a little bit suspicious and thought that maybe Mui Gu had not started her job, so she walked up to Jiao Yu, pulling her arm gently before smiling, "Did Fourth niece slept well last night?"

"Thanking Second Aunt's attention. With the help from Mui Gu, the sleep was not bad." Jiao Yu smiled.

Hui Shi observed Jiao Yu's expression and saw no change or any facade in it, only a gentle smile was plastered on the corner of her lips. Looking at Jiao Yu's pair of clear honey brown eyes, a sense of anxiety rapidly rose from Hui Shi's heart, making her slightly confused. She smiled as she went forward to Jiao Yu and said, "Naturally, it's a servant's job to take good care of their masters."

"En." Jiao Yu blandly agreed.

"Since Fourth niece's good sleep was due to the maid. Once we leave, give this Mui Gu a reward." She turned to Gong Li.

Jiao Yu seemed to look like she notice something and said, "It's Mui Gu's fortune to be bestowed with reward by Second Aunt."

Though from the ears of others, those words were nothing to think about and not of importance but to Hui Shi who stiffened a bit, it was easy for her to detect that she had a slip of tongue.

Everyone in the Liu residence knew that the Second Furen was stingy and would only bestow rewards to those servants that captured her attention or to her servants and without rhyme and reason, why would the second furen bestow reward to the servant of her niece? And why would Hui Shi be that kind to the niece she'd never hang out or have been close with?

Jiao Yu saw the conflicted changes of expressions, Hui Shi had on her face. And found that it was quite interesting and funny to look at other people's sufferings.

"By the way, why did Second Aunt visit me?" She asked.

Hui Shi had not yet recovered from what Jiao Yu had said earlier and only answered blankly, "It had been a while since I've seen Fourth niece and once out, I passed by your courtyard and decided to pay a visit."

"And since I have seen Fourth niece already, I shall leave now."

With that, Hui Shi turned her back and left with her entourage,with ashen face as goes, as if she was chased by a ghost. Jiao Yu also did not bother stopping her as she had the matters planned already.

Last night, when Fan Zi Yi had only have just left, Jiao Yu made everyone in her courtyard to leave and go back to their sleeping quarters. One did not know why she did that, but the servants and maids could only obey what their miss' orders. So why would Mui Gu show up here when she sent everyone away?

Originally, she did not let the servants and maid in the courtyard leave without a reason. Jiao Yu had already known about the plans of Hui Shi but only did not bother with it and only waited to confront whatever she had under her hands and whenever they will come after her but who would've known that it was her maid, Mui Gu, that came.

She pretended to be tired and fell asleep but no one knew that Jiao Yu had a hard time sleeping, letting Mui Gu do her thing and after sensing that Mui Gu had left, Jiao Yu opened her eyes and left her room to sleep in the sleeping quarter of Jing Chu. Early morning, when Jing Chu saw her young miss was sleeping beside her, she was shocked to death and almost thought she had seen a ghost.

And regarding the powder that Mui Gu had thrown inside her room, she already knew what was the effects of the content and change it into a lighter dose before it was given to Mui Gu.

That's why, she was not affected by it as it didn't made any contact with her.
