16 Fertility Ritual

Her wolf seemed to smile " SweetHeart we are your ancestors, we felt your concern about the fertility Ritual tonight so we felt that it would be best to bring you here to try and quite your fear." Wait how did they know that I was uneasy about the ritual, " How did you know that I was uneasy about the ritual tonight?" The wolf just shook its head back and forth " My, my, someone doesn't know a lot about her history does she." I lowered my head to look at the floor, that is when the smaller wolf with red fur and pink eyes stepped forward. The next voice I heard was deep, that little wolf was a man I would have never guessed. " Please, tell me you know of your history as a wolf?"

I just kept looking at my feet, " Well I didn't find out till recently that I was even part wolf, my mother hid it from me and I didn't find out until after she passed." " But what if I haven't decided that I was ready to have a pup yet?" The red hair wolf was the next to shift, he was this short, stocky man he had red hair with the pink eyes to match just like his wolf. " Artemis, it is essential that all pack members rear a pup, but at the same time not all she-wolves will become pregnant on this night." I was confused " But how if all she-wolves participate in it wouldn't we all fall pregnant during the ritual?" The lady just chuckled " No sweet girl, the moon goddess is the one that makes that decision during the ritual, if you fall pregnant outside of the ritual then it was your body's way of saying that its time." Why was this whole thing so confusing, she must have seen my face " During the fertility ritual, the moon goddess selects who will bear the first pups of the season, this prevents all she-wolves from becoming pregnant at the same time, as you could imagine having a whole bunch of pups around the same time could be dangerous, because that is fewer people to help protect you and the pregnant she-wolves."
