I sat in my room for a while trying to relax, but I couldn't everything that had happened today had me stressed out. I honestly didn't think that Genius would leave me alone he never does even when I ask. But he must have known that I needed to be alone for a while because he didn't follow me into the room. So I did the only thing that I knew that would relax me I went out onto our balcony and looked up at the moon. It looked so beautiful, the one thing that always calmed me was the moon. I never understood why but it was my safe zone, anytime something bad would happen this is what I would do to clear my head. I don't know if it will help this time but it was worth a shot, so I went to sit down. But before I could I heard a knock at my bedroom door, I just rolled my eyes I knew the quite wouldn't last forever. " Who is it?" I waited a few moments waiting for a reply but it took a few minutes before I received one " Squirt, is it ok if I come in? I know that you wanted to be alone but I really need to talk to you."
I knew that I needed to let him in because I could hear it in his voice, " Come in.l" My brother walked in and you could tell that he had been crying because his eyes were red and puffy. He refused to look at me, " Squirt is there a way that you can take me to see mom, I really need some answers and I don't want to wait." I just looked at him in shock because not once has my brother expressed an interest in trying to go with me. I stepped closer to Zeus and picked his chin up with my hand " I don't know if I can but for you, I will try because you need closure too." He finally looked at me and I could see the tears begin to form in his eyes again, I have never seen my brother like this before. He looked so defeated the man that had always protected me now looked like a small child, I knew I had to try for him. I didn't know if I could because I have never tried to do it with anyone else before.
I held his hugged, my brother, to try and comfort him, I didn���t know if it would help but I felt that was the only thing I could do at the moment. " Zeus, I need you to understand that I can't promise that it works, but if it does you have to hang onto me at all times because I don't know what will happen if you let go." He just looked at me with those same tears in his eyes, I could tell he didn't care he just wanted an answer to his questions. "Ok well I have to mind-link Genius because I don't want us to do this alone, I am pretty sure our bodies won't be able to defend ourselves while we're there." Zeus just nodded " Genius, could you bring Alcide and Daniel to our room please it is important." Zeus and I walked out onto the balcony to stare at the moon while we waited for them to get here. I didn't know where they were but I knew they weren't close to my room I could feel it.
After what seemed like hours, finally, Genius, Alcide, and Daniel walked into the room. At first, they just stood by the door till I and Zeus walked into the room. They all stared at me us, Genius was the first to speak " Princess, what is wrong?′ I just held my hand up to let him know to stop; " I am going to try and take Zeus to see mother, but I don't know if I will be able to because I am not even sure how I am doing it." " But Genius, when I have done it what happens to my body while I am doing it?" He seemed concerned by the question " Well princess you look dead, that is why I try to be with you while you're doing it because I don't want anything to happen to you, but you have a bad habit of doing it without me in the room." " But I am glad you called us this time, that way we can protect you guys while you're doing whatever it is you do."
That seemed to shock Alcide and Daniel because their mouths fell open, " What do you mean my niece looks dead when she does this?" Genius turned toward my uncle " What do you think it means, she goes pale, she barely breaths, her heart slows down, it's like she isn't alive but she always returns just fine." That part seemed to concern Daniel a little bit because he scrunched his nose " But if you look like that when you're doing this why would you keep doing it doesn't it seem kind of risky." Before I could speak Zeus looked up at everyone " She does it because she has to, there are things that only our mother knows that can help us raise the pack in the future and to protect our family." I nodded in agreement with Zeus no use in trying to explain it better than that, " Ok, so this is the game plan Zeus and I will go lay on the bed, you guys are to watch over us no matter what." " Genius, if you notice anything different about me compared to when I have done this before you are to immediately grab my hand and use our mate bond to help pull me back and while you're doing that I will use my bond with Zeus to pull him back with me."
You could tell that none of them were comfortable with what I just said but none of them argued because they all knew it was useless. I turned toward my bed and walked to it with my brother right behind me. Once we were laying on the bed together I turned toward Zeus " are you sure that you want to do this? you don't have to go with me." My brother just looked at me with such sorrow on his face " Squirt, I have to or I will regret it." That was all I needed to hear before I knew this is something we had to do together, " Ok, Zeus I need you to relax close your eyes and clear your mind, focus on my touch and I will do the rest ok." " If this is going to work this is the only way that I can think it will work." So he followed my instruction and closed his eyes, I followed suit, it seemed like it wouldn't work. But just as I was about to stop our mother's tree appeared, I looked beside me to see if Zeus was with me and there he stood looking around. " Artemis, is this mom's tree?" I just nodded, then I slowly started walking forward holding Zeus's hand just like when I was little.
Something was different about this visit, something felt weird like we were being watched, "Mom its Artemis I brought Zeus with me." There was just silence, she didn't respond, Zeus turned toward me and I just shook my head because I didn't know why she wasn't appearing. Suddenly we started hearing voices, I have never heard voices here before other then my mother's so this started to worry me. Zeus must have felt the same way because he tightened his grip on my hand " Squirt, what is going on?" I just looked at him " I honestly don't know this has never happened." Which began to worry be more, Zeus and I looked around until we saw a dark figure walking towards us. They had a hood of some kind on concealing there face, it wasn't my mother because she would never hide her face from us.
"Well, well, well what do we have here if it isn't Artemis and Zeus, I would say it is a pleasure to meet you but I am sure you don't even know who I am." I was so confused who was this person and how did they know us, " Who are you, and what do you want?" The figure just let out this laugh that made my ears hurt, it was so menacing and deep, I started to grow concerned. " I see that your mother left out a lot about her history and yours." Zeus and I looked at one another " I will ask you again who are you and what do you want?" Again the figure just laughed, it was becoming alarmingly concerning, " I would tell you but that means you're going to leave this place alive and I don't think that is part of the plan." Soon as that last word left the figure's mouth it charged towards us but before it reached us out popped our mother from the dark. " Stop, right there leave my children alone now, or you know what I will do to you back off."
The figure stopped at turned toward my mother and let out this most awful growl I had ever heard while backing into the dark. Who the hell was that and why were they trying to hurt Zeus and me, but I didn't have time to think about that this second my mother had finally appeared. She turned toward us, " I am sorry but Artemis you shouldn't have come back and you shouldn't have brought your brother along either, it is dangerous for you to keep coming here." I was immediately angry with her no she never told me it was dangerous because she never told me anything. But before I could speak Zeus started pulling me forward with him making sure not to let go of my hand, he got right in front of my mother's face. " You lied to us our whole life and you want to give us orders, were not little kids anymore and you have to right to speak to us that way." That seemed to shock my mother because she stepped back from Zeus and she looked a little worried. " Zeus what is wrong with you why are you so angry with me, you have never talked to me that way."
I tried to stop Zeus but it was too late " Why am I angry are you really asking me that when you know exactly why you lied to me my whole life your not my real mom." That seemed to make my mom worry a little bit because her facial expression changed completely, " Zeus, who told you that?" By this time my brother was crying all over again " Our uncle told us he thought you had told us but you didn't you lied to me and you lied to Artemis how can you call yourself our mother but continuously lie to us about everything." That seemed to hit a nerve with my mother because you could see the tears begin to form in her eyes. As she began to speak you could tell she was having a hard time trying to get out the right words. " Zeus, I never meant to lie to you but in my eyes, you were my son, I never thought you needed to know because I had raised you your whole life." I could tell that Zeus was becoming angry because he started squeezing my hand harder and harder. " You didn't think that it was important to inform me that you were my biological mother, you didn't think that telling me that Artemis and I had different mothers. You were so concerned about protecting her that you forgot to be honest with me and tell me the truth."
My mother just put her head down, you could see the tears hitting the grass at this point I finally stepped forward. " Mom, you have to understand why this hurt him so much, not only did you lie to him but he had to hear it from our uncle." She looked up at me with tears in her eyes it broke my heart seeing the two of them like this, they never fought or yelled at each other until now. " I am so sorry Zeus, I never meant to hurt you by keeping this from you, I honestly felt that you were my son and I never thought how it would affect you hearing it from someone else." Zeus just turned his head away from her, " Who is my biological mom, do you know?" My mother just started crying more, " Zeus I honestly never knew her, your father never spoke of her, when I came into the picture you were just a baby, I asked you're father but all he would say is she died giving birth to you." Which made what I was about to ask so much harder because I never told Zeus that I ran into someone in the forest that was claiming to be our father.

I looked down at my feet not sure how to ask the question they were both upset and I knew this was going to make it worse, Zeus squeezed my hand. " Well when I went for a run in the forest today, I wasn't paying attention and ran past our barrier." Zeus turned toward me I could tell he was concerned I guess Genius never told him that part, " Well when I stopped and I heard a noise, then a man appeared, he knew me, he asked about you and he claimed to be our father." As soon as I finished I looked up and my mother's eyes were huge, I looked at Zeus and his eyes were the same. I looked back to my mother, " That can not be Artemis your father died when you were young." I held my head up " But mom he knew you, he said there was a lot that you keep us in the dark about, he also said that your body is the only thing that can die."
I wanted to ask more but my mom held her hand up " Artemis, there is a lot I have hidden from you but your father being dead wasn't one of the things I have lied about." I was confused " Can it be him though, did you see his body before you left?" My mother put her head down I knew the answer before she spoke it " No I didn't but my I felt him die through our mark." I was trying to get her to elaborate but she wouldn't she just stopped with that sentence I was becoming frustrated, what was she hiding. " Is there a way to manipulate the mate mark to make one think that their mate is dead?" My mom just started crying again " Yes there is but I would have been able to tell the difference, it didn't feel like the mark was being manipulated." Before I could speak again her eyes became wide like she just thought of something, but Zeus was the first to say something " Mom, you just thought of something what is it?"
She just stared at us for a moment not speaking, she was just crying, the longer she stood there the harder she cried. Then she began to fade into the darkness, Zeus and I looked at one another then looked back "MOM WAIT, THERE IS MORE WE NEED TO ASK YOU?" But she didn't respond, the next thing I knew the darkness grew around us, we could no longer see our mother's tree it was just darkness, then we heard the screaming. Zeus looked at me with this worried face " Artemis, what is going on?" I honestly didn't know this was new to me normally when my mom disappeared I just woke back up in my room. " I don't know Zeus this has never happened before." I was becoming worried because I didn't have an answer, but before I could speak again, I woke up in my room with Genius standing over me shaking me and yelling. I sat up quickly turning towards Zeus he was sitting on the edge of the bed shaking and crying. I went to touch his shoulder, but he got up and ran out of the room.
I went to get up and chase after him but Genius wouldn't allow me to get up he turned toward Alcide and Daniel. They must have known what he wanted them to do because they immediately ran out of the room after Zeus. I turned back to Genius I was about to ask him what happened but I collapsed.
