12 A Mother's Wish

As I drifted further and further into my dream, my mother's favorite tree appeared I walked closer to the tree. The closer I got the more peaceful I became, I hollered out for my mother trying to connect with her spirit again, but she didn't answer. So I sat down by the tree trying to figure out how I connected with her the last time but I honestly had no clue how I did it. I sat there for what seemed an eternity before I heard her voice " Artemis, can you hear me?" I was shocked I had been trying to see or hear her for a while " Yes, mother I can hear you, Please come out." There was silence again, then a figure started to appear by the tree I stood up moving closer to it " Artemis, Why have you come back to this place?" I looked at my mother confused " Mom, I need the truth about somethings." She just sighed " What do you need?" My mother was acting weird and I could not understand why, " Who are the quils?"

She stood there with shock on her face " Why are you asking about them?" I just shook my head " Because mother once of them attacked Genius and me." She turned toward me with fear in her eyes " What do you mean one attacked you guys?" I don't understand why she was being so short about everything " He attacked us, he bite Genius, was trying to locate him now but I need information about the mom and Alcide said you were the only other one that could tell me anything about them." She let out a deep breath " Well that means they're back and being controlled by someone, Artemis if you do not get them on your side they will be a big problem" I nodded acknowledging that I knew that " Ok so the Quils use to be werewolves but they had betrayed their alpha, and since they were half werewolf their alpha had their mother one of the strongest enchantresses at the time cast a spell on them." I was mortified how could a mother do that to their child. But like my mother knew what I was thinking she immediately continued " So no some of them are stuck in their werewolves forms, others have special abilities, some are deformed, some are just simple half-breeds nothing special about them, but what nobody knew is the spell the enchantress cast on them made it so they were easily controlled, I broked that spell while you were young the quils were free." " But they chose to stay beside me to help protect the pack, so in return I made them apart of the pack, but when I fled the castle I had to leave them behind, so I am assuming that is when they ran into someone else that redid the spell and now they are slaves."

I was shocked " Mother how could a mom do that to her own children?" She held up her hand to stop me " Artemis, the person that cast that spell was your aunt, those are your cousins, I did not tell anyone that because your aunt had abandoned us for the alpha of the black jade pack he was her mate but he was not a great person." " Artemis, how do you think you're able to cast spells, you are the most powerful wolf but you are the most powerful enchantress alive today, you are half werewolf half enchantress." I was shocked why didn't my uncle tell me this why did mom keep this from me " Mooommm, why didn't I know this, why didn't Alcide tell me?" She lowered her head " Because baby nobody knew I kept it hidden from everyone because you were already endangered, I just wanted to protect you, but now you must know who you are because if your cousins are under someone's control again there will be a great war coming." Now I was confused " What do you mean that there will be a great war?" " Artemis, my sweet girl, I had to bind your powers at a young age because they started showing earlier then they were meant to, nobody wanted a half wolf, half enchantress child running the kingdom, you were our future, our queen this was your path I had to protect you from everything and anyone that tried to do you harm." " During the last war I had to kill you aunt to protect you, that was one of the most horrible things I have ever had to do, but I had to in order to protect you."

My mother had tears welling in her eyes, " Artemis, I was not always a wolf I was born an enchantress, but the great spirit that created wolves, saw your future before you were even born, she made me who I was, your father was one of the most powerful alpha wolves around, then I was the strong enchantress, but the great moon spirit made me the most powerful wolf with the power of the enchantress to go with it, it gave me special abilities but none of them could amount to you." You are born this way not made, the moon god cannot change you." I was in utter shock by this my mother hid a lot from us, I never even knew that I had an aunt, I wasn't sure what to say to my mother. Finally I found the words " Mom, I understand for the most part why you kept this all of a secret, but because of you doing this now I am forced into a world I know nothing about, I have no clue what I am doing, I have no clue what I am suppose to do half the time, and now I don't even know who I am."

My mother completely lost it " Artemis, I am so sorry I never meant for any of this to happen, I was going to tell you everything the next morning but I never got the chance to. I am so sorry I am not there to guide you the way I was meant to." I just walked closer to my mother and hugged her there was nothing else that I could have done. " Mom, I am sorry too but there is another question I need to ask you, how do I get into our old castle undetected?" She pushed me away " No Artemis, you can never go back there, it isn't safe there." " Mother, I have to everything we need is there why are you acting this way now?" I was again confused by my mother's behavior this is not like her at all. " I am sorry Artemis, I will not tell you how to go back there, I will not allow it at all, it is too dangerous for you." I kept shaking my head " Mother, I must I have to for the pack and myself, I have to go back and if you won't help me I will figure out another way." I went to turn my back to my mother but she grabbed my arm and spun me around " Artemis, please don't go back there promise me you won't." I just shook my head some more, " Mother I can not promise that I have a responsibility that you left me unprepared for so I will do what I must."

She lowered her head down and started weeping into her hands " Artemis, my baby, I am so sorry for everything, my wish for you is to understand why I did everything I did." I just stood there staring at her not knowing what else to say, " Baby girl, I know you and Genius have mated, as well as are engaged, my biggest wish for you is that you grow happy, have children, and never know the heartache that I have felt." With that my mother disappeared, she just left with nothing else to say nothing she left me by myself. I walked away back towards the darkness of my mind, when I woke up Genius was staring at me I wiped my face I could feel the tears on my face. Genius gently laid my head on his chest " Princess, what happen, why are you crying?" I just took a deep breath " I saw my mother, I just found a lot out and now I am questioning who I am." He just stared at me confused " Well what did she say princess that has you this upset."

I sat up on my elbow turning toward him " The quils are my cousins, my aunt is the one that cursed them, my mother freed them but after she left, she doesn't know what happens, but if they are under someone else's control that means another war is upon us." Genius was shocked, " Wait I didn't even know you had an aunt." I just stared at him for a moment trying to decide if I should tell him the rest, but he is my fiance, my mate I can't hide anything from him. " Genius, there is more, apparently my mother wasn't always a wolf, she was born an enchantress but the moon goddess seen my future before I was born and gave my mom the wolf with the strength of the gods, she will also not give me away in the castle."Genius couldn't even speak, he was in such shock, " Babe, she said it was dangerous for me to go back to that castle." He finally came back to his senses, " What do you mean it is still dangerous for you to go back to the castle, it should be safe after all these years right?"

I just shrugged my shoulders, " I don't know Genius I honestly don't know what the hell to think anymore, my mother lied about so many things, yes I understand it was because she needed to protect me but she should have told me before she died, not after her death." Genius didn't say anything else he just pulled me into his arms before kissing me on my forehead, he just sat there and held me for a while before he spoke. " Babe you know we have to tell your uncle and brother what your mother said right, they both deserve to know the truth as well." I sat quietly for a minute " Yes, I know but not tonight can you just hold me until I fall asleep again, in the morning we can tell them but tonight I just need your comfort." Genius did exactly that, he held me till I fell asleep....
